Desperately in need of help to extract some data from my corrupted save game with S3PE

Post by CSyde65 » February 13th, 2019, 12:15 am

On the 8th February this month, I was about to record a video in my saved game. But I discovered that the saved game was now corrupt. And sadly, I deleted the automatic backup, so there's no way to turn back through normal circumstances. This is a one time request. And I don't expect this sort of thing to happen again. Because I am going to keep at least one backup of my saved game from now on, possibly even two.

The reason I automatically deleted the backups was because I was used to the game either saving as a good copy. Or saving as a bad copy via Error 12. The fact that my saved game was saved as a bad copy on the 7th February without triggering Error 12 was something that I hadn't foreseen. I noticed that while editing one of the houses in Moonlight Falls, I was experiencing an issue where I couldn't grab any of the objects on the lot. All I was able to grab or modify was the walls in build mode.

I saved the game because I thought that this was just a minor issue and would go away when I exited the game and reloaded the game. Apparently not. I also noticed that the game had been lagging more than usual, and that it took longer to save than usual. But by the time I realised that this was a really big problem, it was already too late. I later found that my saved game now takes up approximately three times as much MB as it normally does.

Just in case I've forgotten to mention anything that I haven't previously mentioned at MTS, I have linked these two threads http://modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=623529 and http://modthesims.info/showthread.php?p=5497239 to save me the trouble of having to go through everything that I've already went through on those two threads. If anyone here is able to help me with this problem, I have linked the http://www.mediafire.com/file/nbtdi...b61110.zip/file file of my Moonlight Falls save.

What I really want is for someone with sufficient experience with S3PE to see whether it would be possible to extract the data of all the deceased Sims buried in Moonlight Falls in my game, all the Sims currently living in houses in the world. And whether it would be possible to extract some of the residential and community lots from the game - namely the house that my Sims were living in before the game became corrupted.

Assuming that it isn't possible for my saved game to make a full recovery. If it is possible to reverse the corruption, that would be great. But by the sounds of it, it doesn't seem likely. So it would be great if someone was willing to check whether it would be possible to extract the things that I'm desperate to recover the most. If it goes well, then I intend to add the recovered data to a new game. I'm currently playing in Bridgeport, which is the same copy as the one that was used as a vacation sub world for Moonlight Falls.

It's really desperate that I'm able to recover the data that was crucial to my saved game. Because it's going to be nightmare if I can't. But at least with the house that my Sims were living in, it would be possible to make it seem as if nothing bad had happened to my saved game that forced me to switch to Bridgeport as the homeworld. Because several of the floors in the house that my Sims lived in were underground, with multiple underground front and backyards. If any subsequent videos were recorded with the house recovered, no one would be able to know what world the house was currently placed in if the videos were recorded of the underground floors.

I was literally close to tears upon finding out that my game may never be quite the same ever again. But at least I now know that the backups that the game makes are more important to me than the extra disc space is. I just hope that someone somewhere will be able to help by figuring out a way to recover as much of my data as possible. That is if they have the patience and the sympathy to do so. And assuming that it's possible to recover any of the Sims and houses that are stuck in the corrupted save.
