Is there a way to adjust any settings so that my sim WILL NOT get promoted to the next job level, but will still receive raises? For example, my sim is a Gene Therapist in the Medical career and I would like to keep him there. Not every sim aspires to be a World Renowned Surgeon!

I believe you have three options here, two of which require using NRaas StoryProgression.

1 - Using SP, switch off career progression at the Sim level of options for that sim. That will prevent them from being promoted, but I don't know if they will continue to get raises.

2 - Use SP's Restrict Some Levels to a Single Sim and Only One May Lead:Allow Active > True on General Options > Options:Careers (SP Career add-on module required). If there is already a sim at Level 8, then the mod should (no guarantees though) prevent your sim from being promoted into it. But I don't know at which level of the Medical career the restriction kicks in, it might be 9 or 10, and if there is no sim already occupying that career slot or if they get promoted/demoted out of it, retire, quit/get fired, move away, or die, then it becomes open for promotion into again. It is also possible to unseat the single sim already in such a career slot, so while this method can be interesting to play through it is the least reliable of the three options.

3 - Let your sim be promoted and receive their promotion raise and/or bonus. Then use MC to bump them back down to Level 7 again.

Okay, while typing that out I thought of a fourth option. You could set up an SP caste to disallow Levels 8 and higher of that particular career to any sim who lacks something, such as a medical degree from Uni for example. Or you could make that a manual caste and put your sim and any others you wish into it manually to prevent the promotions. Let us know if you want to try that and need help in setting it up.
