Buckets on wheels... they're everywhere!
I have long wanted to ask some details about Traffic. I didn't like that most sims took taxis and I forbade them to do so. Now sims buy disgusting cars and use them. They also like to leave their cars on public lots, and the Overwatch mod doesn't always manage to remove those buckets on wheels. If I forbid travel by car, absolutely everyone will walk. But I don't want that. It would be nice if walked only those sims who don't have a car. Or it would be nice if they used a bicycles. Is that possible?

Why not just go to each house and add a nice car to their lot or maybe a bike? In my experience, sims will use whatever is available to them on their lots. Either a cheap car (usually) or a taxi if they don't have a car. Unless you don't want any cars on the roads at all. In that case you're asking the impossible b/c sims have to get from point A to point B somehow.

Well, if it's the only way out, let's have an auction of unheard-of generosity. But I still don't understand why all sims by default prefer ugly cars (which are bound to get stuck somewhere) rather than bikes. By the way, in towns abroad cars are forbidden, but sims find transport to move quickly. I'd like something like that in my base town. But, apparently, not fate. I'll just imagine that no one there is worried about ecology or aesthetics :(

The Money module of SP has options for setting a minimum family funds total for purchasing bikes, cars etc as well as an option to disallow cars (which I believe deletes pre-existing cars as well.
I dfon't know if there are default replacements for the cheaper cars, as I quite like them myself, but that could be an option too perhaps.

It doesn't have to be an act of generosity if you charge the households for the purchases of higher quality vehicles by way of MC's Family Funds. The being issued free, cheap ugly cars when they don't have or can't seem to find their own, and these cheap cars then getting abandoned, is an EA game function that Traffic "solves" by disallowing the issuing and making them use taxis instead.
I agree that's not a good solution for worlds where the taxis are not realistic, but it comes down to the lesser of several evils as at least with the taxis we don't have all of the abandoned cars for Overwatch to later try to clean up. Another option is to add an extensive subway system and tune the game to entice inactives to use it, but that's not going to be ideal for or consistent with the vision we have for many worlds either. Plus they will all have to live and work very close to subway stations or else they will need the other vehicles for part of each trip across town.

This is b/c the sims walk everywhere. However, you also said that you don't want them to walk.Sara_Darkees wrote: ↑December 15th, 2018, 2:01 pmin towns abroad cars are forbidden, but sims find transport to move quickly.

It doesn't. Just prevents them from buying them again.WoolySmurf post_id=61137 time=1544902375 user_id=4958 wrote: which I believe deletes pre-existing cars as well.
Also was anyone else expecting to see buckets on wheels or just me?

Many of my sims drive various types of cars. I don't know that any of my mods cause this, but the wealthier sims who've advanced in their careers often drive better vehicles. Though it's usually the VFN Compensator. Still, it looks better than the Big Lemon or the hatchback. What I did with a lot of those cheap cars is change the color so they look nicer. If you color them using your MC Cheat they don't look so bad and you are not really cheating them the extra cash, just giving free paint jobs.

I'm sorry, but did you expect to see this?
You know, this is not far from the truth. Actually, I'd like to force Sims to buy bikes. But apparently I have to help them.
Okay, I won't be Santa for these slackers. Could you write how to do that?
There's a simple explanation. They have money and they can afford expensive things. But it spoiled an interesting image of one resident. In the town lives a very wealthy sim who looks more like a homeless hobo. He wears shabby clothes and has cheap furniture in his house. But suddenly he buys an expensive car. What for? There are people who like to collect money and hate to spend it. I think, it's quite an interesting oddity, and it was well shown in this character.
