Problem of fruit-bearing garden
Hello, it's me again, and I need help again. I always thought that the garden in the yard gives the home a special comfort. In addition, the grown fruits are much better than those that sims buy in the grocery store. But there is one problem. My food supplies will be enough to feed all the starving children in Strangetown to death. Plants bear fruit at an incredible rate and I need to fix it. I know that I will need a Retuner, XLM object configuration, after then there will be something like gameplay.objects.garden, then plants and... After all, I'm crushing by disorientation.

Many of us find it satisfying to sell the surplus produce either through the Consignment Store, through produce carts or, less profitable but much simpler, just with the drag and drop method. No good for your purposes?

You can also sell them at the Grocery Store

Don't know why I never think to do that. Probably because if I brought bags full of food to my real life neighborhood grocery store, they wouldn't be very interested in them.

igazor, the question was exactly how to "adjust" fruit-bearing garden. I was looking to see if there was a solution in the Gameplay FAQs section. It's not there at the moment. But it was there, right? If it ever shows up again, I'll be glad. I prefer to play with an infinitely long lifespan. And growing plants in a matter of days clearly do not fit into my game. By the way, I also don't mind to reduce profits. I already think that installing a casino is the only way out.

I don't know I think I'd be leery too if a fuzzy purple werewolf with fairy wings showed up with a bag of groceriesigazor post_id=60362 time=1543181810 user_id=6716 wrote: Don't know why I never think to do that. This is something that has annoyed me as well. 2 lettuce plants are enough to feed a family of 8 and then some. While the possibility of using gardening to make easy money is nice in some cases, if I want to play a hard-working farming family struggling to feed themselves by living off the land, it kinda defeats the point if they have enough crops stockpiled by the end of the second week to never have to worry about food or money again.
I've tried fiddling around with the files a bit to make gardening harder/less profitable, but didn't really figure out a good solution. Ideally, I'd want to make it so it takes longer for plants to bear fruit again after they're harvested, but I couldn't find the variable that controls it. I did manage to make it so plants bear less fruit, and go barren faster. But the latter makes gardening a lot more annoying as you have to keep replanting them. The file I edited was plants.package if I remember correctly. Would be interested to know if anyone has a better solution.

Elanorea, I'm glad I'm not the only one who's worried about this problem. I already thought my question was too much. Many users here have different whims and ask strange questions. Sometimes I think: "I wish I had their problems". I also understand that everyone will never be completely happy because it's impossible. But at the moment I would like the plants to grow more slowly and not bear fruit so often. I guess I will need to edit every type of plant (tree, bush). If someone tells me how to do it, I will be happy with all the subsequent playing time.

The way I did it was to make an XML mod (http://www.simlogical.com/ContentUpload ... ng_Mod.pdf). You need to extract the "Plants" resource from GameplayData and edit the values to what you want. NumLifetimeHarvestables is the total # of fruit produced before the plant goes barren, and NumHarvestablesMin/Max control how many fruits can be produced at a time. Sadly I could not figure out a way to make them grow/bear fruit more slowly. I thought the HarvestStateDuration variables might have something to do with it, but changing them did not seem to make any difference.

@Sara_Darkees Here's are 2 other links on how to make an XML tuning mod:
EA-Tuning-FAQ
http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Tut ... ng_Modding
Retuner cannot reach the data in this type of XML so you'll have to make your own tuning mod. I've edited the values Elanorea describes for the vampire fruit plant increasing the total yield of the plant before it goes barren and also increasing how much it produces each day. I would think you could do the reverse to the other plants. But you'd have to experiment and see what works.
