Ok, I know we've been over this a few times but I still can't get it to work properly. I have 2 schools - Elementary and High school. I used SP caste option on High school and chose Caste Required Teens. On the Elementary school I chose SP Caste disallow teens. I did this from town view on the lot tags.
Now, this is a new Riverview. I deleted all the schools, and put new ones in new places. No kids had ever been to school in any of them previously. After adding back all the residents and Before school started I set the caste options. Now the high school is busting at the seems with teens AND kids, while the Elementary school has 2 kids and one teen. How can I get the game to sort out the schools and the ages so this works? I find this soooo frustrating. It sets off my OCD LOL

The point of bulldozing the schools and replacing them is to adjust the Lot Options age caste restrictions before the kids and teens have a chance to register for these schools, not before they attend on their first day. Usually the registration thing happens right away. And the GoHere mod must be in place for any of this to work.
Yet still it often takes a couple of tries in my worlds before this works right. Sometimes what I do when I've lost patience is to keep the Lot Options restrictions but use MC to assign the first round of children to the elementary school and the first round of teens to the high school myself using MC > Intermediate > Career > Choose School (doesn't take very long if you do this from City Hall and filter to children then teens separately). By the time any new immigrants arrive or toddlers age up to children, things have usually sorted themselves out and begin to happen automatically.

Ok thanks igazor, I couldn't remember how to assign the schools. I'll do that through MC.

Do you also need to do the opposite as well? Set teens as disallowed in your elementary school and set children as disallowed in your high school? Or is that not necessary? I like the idea of assigning them at first, I think I will try that next time.

You can do it that way, but there is no built-in Children caste (it's fine to create one). But specifiying teens allowed on one of the schools means that all non-members of that caste, in other words non-teens, are disallowed. That also means YAs and older won't be able to maintain careers at the teens-only school but only at the other one.Tangie0906 wrote: ↑November 19th, 2018, 10:46 amDo you also need to do the opposite as well?
