Why in the world can't pregnant sims play table tennis? I mean seriously? They can play pool!  This is almost as annoying as sims not being able to play with the soccer ball or kicky bag when the snow is too deep. LOL. I mean they can play inside all the time, so WTF does snow have to do with playing inside with a hacky sack or soccer ball? GRRR! Even more hilarious is if you're using the soccer goals in the snow they play just fine! ??  Then there's the issue with the baseball and football, if you're on a residential lot your sims can only play with members of your own house, but if you're at the park you can play catch with anyone. So it sucks when I invited friends over cuz they can't play catch with anything!  Yet they can play kickybag and with the soccer ball with visitors to their lot. It's all so silly!
Also, why can't a sim who's carrying a toddler take their own car? Thousands of mothers and fathers plop toddlers in car seats every day and drive around!  What's worse is the darn game gives your daycare worker their own van, but can you actually take toddlers anywhere in the thing? NOPE!  :x

Okay, I feel better. I always feel a bit guilty ranting about all the stupid things this game does, I mean EA created an amazing game, but seriously the developers need to get out more cuz their ideas about real life is sorely lacking. I thank the community for mods every time one of these issues ticks me off, then I wonder if one of the mods will fix some of this stuff and I look I can't find what I want and I get confused again, then I'm amazed that these kinds of games exist at all because how complicated and amazing is it that any of this works as well as it does anyway? :)

Many of the "sensibilities" (if that's the right word) of the game intentionally come from the US 1950s. Not the real 50s either, but the idyllic image one might have of them by watching classic sitcoms and movies. Donna Reed would never have played table tennis while pregnant and toddler car seats had not been invented yet, young kids were just tossed into the back of a station wagon while cigarette ads played on the radio and the best possible outcomes were hoped for.

That doesn't help make things any more realistic for those of us playing today, but much of this is part of the challenges that the game presents for whatever silly underlying reasons. Sort of in the same vein as the gossipy shamefulness of having a child out of wedlock. Hope that last bit doesn't offend anyone here but I happen to know that I was conceived out of wedlock and somehow managed to overcome it all by the time I was 2. It was...difficult but I had no say in the matter at the time and that which doesn't kill us makes us stronger.  :)

LOL yeah, and babies were placed on the lap while driving ( OMG! ) and seatbelts were tucked into the crack of the seat cuz they just got in the way. I still remember as a very young boy standing in the front seat next to Dad with my arm around his shoulders. Of course there was that jet-quick arm that shot out to stop you plowing forward if mom or dad had to apply the breaks! In fact, my mom did that to me not long ago when we were on an outing together and we laughed for like 10 minutes! Mom's never stop being moms even when their kids are middle aged. LOL

I don't think most people think twice about kids outta wedlock these days.I can't remember the last time I heard someone say anything about that and I'm in the Bible belt. LOL  Besides, My parents were married but only 6 months before I was born. HAHA (and it was her second marriage...gasp!)

I never watched Donna Reed, but I used to watch Leave it to Beaver in syndication as well as Patty Duke on that TV channel who's name escapes me right now. (Nick at night?)  My fav was Bewitched though, (yes I know, it came much later) Still, they smoked and drank at work in the first 3 seasons!)  I own all 8 seasons of Bewitched on DVD (who didn't love Aunt Clara?!)

Wasn't she the one who was so proud of her doorknob collection? Now I need to go find or make an Aunt Clara sim, thanks a bunch.  :)

I don't know off the top of my head if the hacky sack/soccer/football issues are tunable, but enabling table tennis for pregnant Sims is. I can't give you Retuner directions since I don't use it myself, but if you don't either then try this. (note: only affects regular table tennis, not "juice" pong)

It always annoyed me that Tabatha was discouraged from using her powers. Okay, I see the sense of that now, but I was only a kid myself when I first watched Bewitched, and to me it was just grownups being spoilsports as usual. But many... I mean a few years on, the kid in me was still annoyed that child Sim witches couldn't do any magic, which is why I was delighted when Skydome came up with the Enhanced Witches mod.

Pregnant women also can't use a treadmill. A treadmill! Hello, EA, gentle, weight-bearing exercise is healthy for pregnant women!

Not long ago I was playing an athletic sim who had a Surrounded by Family wish, so she was pregnant a lot, and she couldn't use the treadmill (her favourite). Chin-up bar? No problem! Aerobics in front of the TV or stereo? Sure, that's fine! Go for a run outdoors in the rain or snow? Sure, that'll be fine for you and your baby. But the treadmill is just too dangerous because of EA Reasons(tm).

There's a mod that lets pregnant sims use the treadmill, but it conflicts with another mod I use which I like better and need more. Thankfully, it's possible use Retuner to make the treadmill accessible to pregnant sims.

Well, whaddayaknow? I had a rant on the topic, too! :)  High five?

We might want to think about what the failure animation for the treadmill at lower Athletic skill levels looks like and whether we really want to see pregnant sims falling on their stomachs like they would if this were permitted generally. But then again, they can still use elevators and I find that failure animation to be similarly disturbing. Especially since my pregnant sim was in labor and on the way to the hospital the first time it hit them.

Nothing with pregnant sims, more with the outcome. Thankfully there's a mod now but by default teens can play in the sandpit but toddlers cant. Seriously???

Yes and the actress, Marion Lorne really did have a doornob collection IRL so they made it part of her charater. Just remember to make her absent-minded... LOL
