Inactives have items in their family inventory?

Post by C-Dark » October 10th, 2018, 11:28 am

I switched from my main active family for a short while to an inactive one and found out that nearly all sims in the family had no items in their sim inventory - but a lot stuff in the family inventory.

I didn't know about that, because I normally only play my own family.

So why did this happen and how can I prevent it, they should not have items in the family inventory, or are they able to use them?

Not sure if this is the cause here but most stuff from dumpster diving goes into the family inventory. My sims can sell the items from there with consigner (or just sell them) but I don't know if SP does clean it up like it does the personal inventories.

Same thing happens when they salvage stuff from the junkyards and if you have it in your game some stuff they buy from the The Golden Ticket Toy Shop will also do that if it can't fit in their personal inventory.

Not all of this can really be intentional. I switch into households all the time and find some or most of the personal inventory items shoved into the family inventories including items I had purchased myself for these sims the last time I played them. That can be everything from apples to homework, medical career beepers, laptops, and expensive cars. I don't think there is really any way to prevent the game from doing that.

Sometimes when I do reset everything some of the items go from personal inventory, into the family inventory. Including but not limited to beepers, showtime props, wands, laptops, gems...

Yeah, I did a reset everything from MC / townhall, but if the items are in the family inventory now,, can the inactives still use them?

No, not until/unless the player moves them back into personal inventories or places them back onto their lots again.

Thx.  But thats really bad, so that might be an issue for MC please not to move the sims inventory to the family one for inactives.
I don't have this happen ever with my active family one.

I'm pretty sure this also happens to players who don't use mods; I don't think that MC is solely responsible here.

For the ones who like to know. As Igazor said, Inactive Sims cannot use items from their family inventory,
After a town reset all inactive sim items where moved to their family inventory. To clear this many unused objects from all families all together (exept of my active one) : I used
MC - Houshold - Sell Item
Prompts the user to sell objects in the given lot's family inventory
Proceeds of the sale go to the family living on the lot
