Strays invited inside can't leave

Post by Veiledstar » December 22nd, 2017, 7:41 pm

My sim invited several neighborhood strays to come in from the cold and now it seems that none of them can go out to enjoy the toys and beds placed outside. I click on them and the option "inside inside" comes up. I suspect that some of them snuck in when I invited one in, so the ones who snuck in technically aren't "invited" by what the game sees. Unfortunately, every time I try to invite the little cat or dog again, they are attempting to scratch at the door to leave, so the interaction is dropped. Is there any way to fix this issue without resetting the poor cats and dogs?

Hi there Veiledstar - I can not say 100% sure but my experience has been that function is broken. Almost ever time I invite in they can't get out again. In stead of resetting I put a small building open on one side (no doors). I keep their toys, beds, food etc. in the shelter. I've got one with a small potbelly type fire place in the corner. I did have luck with a community lot pet shelter/animal hospital run by one of the residents though. Would love to hear if others have a solution or a different way of managing the strays invited in.

Nothing substantive to share. But I'm going to guess that this is a residential front door routing based game glitch. Sounds like a job for GoHere (is that Chain I hear sobbing over in the corner?). But I like brappl's workaround, the open building idea sounds very creative. :)

I have an open front building with no door for a lot of toys, food, etc, but I didn't realize that inviting them in to a residential home (the items inside are a bit nicer than those outside in the "shelter" area) would cause the glitch with the door. For now, I will just leave that function alone. I didn't realize it was broken.

I feel like we must have had this conversation before because I knew to make the open building, but just didn't have a reason as to why. LOL now I know why. I was probably watching the topic on brawl's community pet shelter/animal hospital.

Thanks! :)

I could be wrong that the game is broken so maybe someone else will weigh in with an update on that or other options.
One other option came to mind. Haven't tried it yet, just thought of it: Replace the door and use GoHere and see if including them in Sims who can use the door.
