WA World Recipes

Post by Tangie0906 » June 27th, 2017, 10:28 am

Is there a way to add the WA world recipes (crepes, etc.) to your homeworld? I feel like I remember playing custom worlds that had a books register and sims could buy the WA recipes there. Am I just day dreaming? I really don't want to have to send every sim to the WA worlds just to learn them.

There is the Books Buyable Anywhere mod over at Mod The Sims - http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=379566. According to its description "This tiny XML tuning mod will make all location-specific recipe books, fish-catching instructional books and skill books buyable in any bookshop in the world." Their are two versions to choose from, depending on what features you want.

That version of the mod will break a lot of things on current patch levels. Anak_Ponti made a more recent version here, but I would suggest taking care to read the many comments for any other unexpected issues.

Oops, I should have read more of the comments before i posted that link. It is out of date. The new version is [05/12] Jenesis' All Buyable Fish/Books/Fruits Mods (Compatible with Patch 1.63-1.67) - http://modthesims.info/d/427297

Honestly, when it comes to recipes, fishing and musical books, I always cheat them through MasterController since I'm a lazy prick :)

Haha! I "cheat" all the time with all kinds of things, because with this game I don't think it's possible to cheat in the first place! We all set our own 'rules' about what is or isn't cheating. :)

Thanks for pointing out blue's mod, I will check that out since I have some of her others also. And thanks to everyone else for your suggestions. I swear I searched for this but info was apparently hiding from me.

It should be noted Anak_Ponti's mod has caused a few support threads here due to it seemingly still being out of date with recent patches and causing script errors.

I'm not on my simming system right now, but I could have sworn I got the benefit of all recipe books available in all worlds without seeking out a mod to do so specifically. Maybe it came with the Ingredients Overhaul mod, I believe some of bluegen's work in incorporated into that. At least one other bonus I recall taking me by surprise was the Better Bars mod was already in there (great!) and all of my venues suddenly had very strange (to me) closing hours that I had to adjust so my more family oriented sims in suburbia would stop trying to go out dancing at 5am on a work/school day. Something like this might have snuck in there as well? :)

I downloaded Blue's mod but haven't installed it yet. I looked using MC and Debug but couldn't figure out a way to add that just with those mods. I might have to add it today - I wonder if I added it and then removed it would it allow me to keep all the books? I'd use JunJay's mod but I am attached to the tablet and the ability to listen to podcasts while my sims do other things. (I do have the 'study any skill' online mod, though.)

I have the Better Ingredients mod but the one with regular bar hours (with no "better bars" mod). This mod does allow me to buy things like cherries and frogs other WA produce and fish at the grocery, but I've not seen the WA recipe books for sale at the bookstore just by having that mod.
