Taxi Boats

Post by tizerist » April 7th, 2016, 11:12 am

Hi. I have disabled boat routing in the GoHere options, but sims still keep taking taxi boats. Is this the correct way to stop this happening?
Thanks

It depends which version of GoHere you have. On the fully released v43, that option does not work correctly. It works much better on v44c, the version currently in testing.

v44c is the one I'm using unfortunately.

This thread will likely get Chain's attention soon enough. He was asking just the other day under which circumstances and I think in which worlds boat routing was still happening on v44c.

In my game, I see the unused taxis spawn occasionally in worlds where there shouldn't really be any. One of the mods steps in (maybe Overwatch?) and gets rid of them after a sim hour or two, but once in a while, not every day, an inactive sim will try to use one for routing anyway. If I catch them in time, I tend to do a DE Reset on them and then send them elsewhere (or a MC reset if they are being stubborn about it) but of course my eyes can't be all over the map at once. I don't think I've seen my actives try to route this way in a very long time, but for them I can just take more direct control.

Others have had varying results with this one thus far.

I see. In this case it's Hogwarts Wizarding World, and it's happening if I direct a sim to visit a lot which involves going through another lot (which is simply a bridge) to get there. They don't like using these bridges, and often opt for a taxi boat instead. Hope that helps. Thanks.

Oh and it happens in Praaven too on occasion.

Hmm. Having to go through one lot to get to another rather than having a bridge on the world lot itself sounds like a pretty unconventional routing setup. Does it work any better if you direct them to the first lot and then the second or is that just not practical? I suppose a subway system would be out of the question?

It does indeed work better if I direct them lot by lot, and I have set up subway rugs disguised as magic portals too. The thing is, it's a historical hood, so whereas I can (sort of) stomach them whipping their clothes off and swimming across the river, as dumb as it may seem for a top warlock to be doing so, a modern vehicle such as a taxi-boat is an absolute no-no. I just don't want to see them at all haha. Thanks.

Still having trouble nailing this. Where can I get this Hogwarts world? Tell me what lot the Sims are on and where you're sending them. It'll be better if you have not changed the position of these lots from their default positions (doesn't matter if you've customized the lots).

Ok, it wasn't that easy to replicate this morning...one of the problem areas, today sims have consistently used the 'long way round' approach rather than taxiboats, but yesterday they were using them.
I managed to make it happen at another problem-bridge area, screenshot included in upload. Sims take a taxiboat going from B to A, but, when I also had awesomemod installed, from A to B too.
I noticed the jumping effect you mentioned for the first time also.

Many thanks.
