Help with the annoying /world/TownName/ names

Post by Waywardman » January 8th, 2019, 9:01 pm

How do i change it so every new townie isn't named like /World/Riverview/Sims: PersonName ? It gets really annoying and clustered.

Thanks in advance!

I've seen this reported on before, but have been playing an ongoing game centered around Riverview for years and never experienced it myself. Some obvious questions, apologies if they are too obvious...

-- Have you tried uninstalling the world, removing it from the IntalledWorld folder, and reinstalling it?
-- Have you ever dumped the contents of your DCCache folder and unintentionally played forward without reinstalling Riverview?
-- Are you on a Mac and have you deleted the WorldCache files? (Mac players are to never do this unless they have no intention of continuing to play an ongoing game in the worlds in question)
-- Is your game installed in a language other than English?
-- Are you using an SP custom names file that perhaps is not structured correctly or is it the game alone that is generating the borked up names?

If none of those are even close, perhaps others here will have further suggestions.

Help with the annoying /world/TownName/ names

Haha i'm new to this mod and even if they were obvious to me, you're trying to help me so don't worry about it!

I'm playing The Sims 3 on Windows and yes i'm playing it in finnish. Somehow the whole world didn't even show up at InstalledWorld folder and i haven't done anything to DCCache folder.

But, since i haven't been playing too long in Riverview, i just took a backup of my family, and moved it to another neighbourhood, Sunset Valley. Now it seems to work perfectly, so long annoying names!

My Riverview was downloaded elsewhere as a modified world, so maybe that caused the problem. I tried other neighborhoods too and no problems in those either so it's just Riverview for me.

Thank you for your answer and help!

You're very welcome. And if you like Riverview, it is a great world to play in, you may want to try the EA version instead of a modified one that doesn't sound like it was installing correctly. :)
