Help Me Solve This Error

Post by LBillusion » December 24th, 2018, 3:14 pm

I don't have ErrotTrap, but will install it if I need to. I know the sim in question as she belongs to a family that I switch between. She is an elder in the business career and is pretty high ranked. Any help in solving this issue would be greatly appreciated. I soon plant to go back to this family because snowflake day is coming lol. When I switch back I don't want this error to keep happening. It seems to only happen during the day and the messages happen consistently. I've attached a picture of the error message, and again I will download ErrorTrap if it's necessary. Below is an image of the error:

Help Me Solve This Error

Hi there. It may be more helpful if we could see the script error log associated with that one rather than the on-screen notification. The script logs accumulate in your TS3 user game file in Documents until there are around 10-12 of them and then they begin overwriting themselves. If you could, upload them to us or attach the relevant ones to this thread by dragging the files into response post (zipped together if there are many).

And yes, I would strongly recommend ErrorTrap and sharing any less than routine (Correction Logs) that it kicks up in the same way.

Thanks for the fast response! I uploaded the zip to Dropbox because I'm not sure if I can(or how to) attach it....I'll probably install ErrorTrap a later time as I haven't loaded up the game since copying the Error logs and will be fairly busy tomorrow.

Help Me Solve This Error

Those look annoying but not overly serious. SP is unable to calculate this sim's job performance, which yes it is likely only trying to do during the sim's working hours, due to an error on their Business Meetings Held metric -- this is one of several metrics used with sims in the Business career and is also reported on the built-in career tab near where you would find the other smiley/sad faces that make up the career performance factors.

Do you have a tuning mod in play from another source that has anything to do with meetings held or the career performance formula for this career that might be acting up? If you aren't sure, you might try a test run with all non-NRaas mods removed and the scriptCache.package file cleared (deleted) to see if the errors persist or not. If no such mod and NRaas-only makes no difference, then I would ask if you have ever edited the Business Meetings metric yourself by way of the game files.

And it that's not it, then our developer will have to comment here as to where else that error might be coming from what can be done to suppress or work around it, and if ErrorTrap will actually help in this regard.

Or you might try giving this sim a different career. Do they like to paint or go fishing by any chance? Have they considered early retirement? (am not being overly serious on this part)

I'll try those suggestions you've mentioned next time I boot up and install ErrorTrap anyway. I did change some settings in Returner and options.ini because I like my sims to have a fairly long lifespan. I think there was an option that changed something about the business meetings in Returner....I'll mess around with that before I run it without mods. By the way, Julienne is a workaholic and I don't think she'd be too fond of retirement.
:EDIT: I also kinda neglect that aspect of the business career when playing this family. Could this be part of the issue?

The key part of the error log is here.
System.IndexOutOfRangeException: Array index is out of range.
#0: 0x0001c ldelem.i4 in Sims3.Gameplay.Careers.Business+MetricMeetingsHeld:FindMetricValue (Sims3.Gameplay.Careers.Career) (3F972960 [4CFE6490] )

I don't see how neglect would play a role. Whether the sim has a horrifyingly bad, average, or outstanding record on this metric, it should be calculated appropriately and not return infinite or impossible numbers. I would definitely try a test run without the Retuner change or without Retuner entirely to see what happens.

By the way, if you Export your Retuner settings from within NRaas > Retuner itself (on City Hall or an in-game computer) you will get a script log that lists out all of your Retuner settings changes from default for that game. That could help you find the one(s) related to meetings that you had changed prior.

I fixed it...I think. The issue is that the elder caste in Story Progression doesn't allow them to work by default. I changed that setting and haven't got any messages since. Thanks for the help, your suggestions got my wheels turning! I should have checked that...duh.

Don't see how this is related to castes. It indeed does look like a tuning mod was recently added that has altered the kWindowForRememberingMeetings tuning value.

I was also seeing exactly the same scripterrors as LBillusion, after I implemented the changes mentioned in this post by TreyNutz in Retuner. I wasn't sure what values to set but these were the ones I used:-

Sims3.Gameplay.Careers > Business >
  • kEarliestTimeToHoldMeeting > 7 (Default:8)
  • kLatestTimeToHoldMeeting > 22 (Default:18)
  • kWindowForRememberingMeetings > 28 (Default:7)
After the first set of scripterrors, I changed the last one to 14 but it didn't make any difference. When I set them all back to default values, the scripterrors stopped. I'm also puzzled how LBillusion solved the problem by altering the elder caste.

Chain_Reaction, is it not possible to change the "kWindowForRememberingMeetings" value successfully?

It is but it should be before any Sim in the town joins the career.
