Jail and Death in SP

Post by JohnL83 » December 12th, 2018, 10:26 am

I've seen many things about jail in various settings throughout SP and a couple of other mods, but I've never once had a sim or seen a sim actually go to jail other than the bugler who occasionally tries to break into my sims homes. Though I've never actually followed the police car to see if that burger-sim is even taken to the police station. Anyway, I was wondering about the whole "jail" thing and if perhaps that requires another EP that I don't have? Also, is this jail just the rabbit hole and if an active sim gets put there is he/she just in there until released? I've never once seen any kind of jail scenario occur so IDK. If it's not an EP or I already have the correct EP, what am I missing?
I have: Ambitions, University Life, Generations, Showtime, Late Night, Pets, World Adventures and Seasons.

Also, I'm trying to find out more about the Death Push options and wondering about setting my town to allow (only a very few) premature random deaths in my town. I've noticed how they've become almost nonexistent since adding all these Nraas mods and I don't' think I've changed any settings regarding my sims dying. I know I have been able to kill a few less desirable sims off myself, but only one sim has ever prematurely passed away in all my gameplay time since installing all these mods so I'm wondering what is at play here?
The sim in question died from electrocution and I found out accidently when I happened to pull up that sim's family tree wondering where she'd gone. I ended up bringing her back with Ambrosia. I posted about this occurrence some time back. She was the sister of a sim family that married into my main family, so I never actively played her family, but found out she'd passed and at that time I had asked about notifications and propagating the death moodlet when family members died. Anyway, I can't find enough info on death and dying in the sims SP mod and I was wondering about the Death Push option and how it all works.

Jail and Death in SP

I'm pretty sure, others can correct me if I've got this wrong, that the jail scenarios are strictly for inactives who do naughty things like fail to pay child support. Sending a burglar to jail (or not) doesn't really change much about the game because burglars are Service Sims and not really subject to progression, or rehabilitation for that matter. Now, having said all that I'm not certain as I believe there are scenarios related to the Criminal career through which an actively played sim can get into trouble with the law.

SP's Death Push Chance option, the one on Sim (Caste, Household, Town) Options, is meant to be strictly for the SP Personality add-on modules and their scenarios. I don't believe it has anything to do with accidental deaths by being clumsy or unskilled while repairing things (or weather related mishaps, getting struck by lightening or rogue vending machines, black jellybeans, etc.). The one called Death: Cumulative Chance of Death only has to do with elders and ends of lifespans. Are these the options you meant or are there others I'm not thinking of at the moment?

Jail and Death in SP

I don't have the money module of SP any more so Sims don't have to pay child support anymore, but I have seen notifications from SP about inactives in the poltical career going to jail for embezzling funds from their campaigns.  (Commonly happens to Vita Alto in Sunset Valley.  I get a notification about Vita throwing a party to get campaign contributions, and at the end I get a notification that she went to jail for embezzling money.) (I have World Adventures, Ambitions, Late Night,  Seasons, Supernatural, Island Paradise, Into the Future.)

Actives in the Criminal Career seem to have a random chance of getting thrown in jail just for going to work.  I've had that happen several times when playing a Sim in the criminal career. At lot of time they seem to get arrested just before they get into the rabbithole and spend their whole work shift in jail instead of at work and they lose job performance. One time an active father missed his son's tranistion from baby to toddler because he was in jail.  Mom took the baby to the cake.

yes, those were the options I meant. Okay, so it's just random and because my sims are generally happy and well-adjusted the bad things don't happen often?
As for the jail thing, I've never done the criminal career so I suppose it's just for them?
Plus my sims who are in political careers all have good traits so I've never seen them get into trouble, though I did have to turn down the amount of contribution money cuz the two sims I have doing that (in different towns each) were taking every sim in town for way too much moneym but all legally of course! And they never got into trouble. Still, I lowered the amount to 3K, they were even mooching it off the young sims as well, which I didn't realize was possible until SP started showing me children and teens who contributed. I also slowed down  the town from having the campaign mooch parties or whatever they are called, because my sims throwing them are mega popular, well liked, etc so they were constantly throwing successful parties and getting SO much money LOL. Apparently I'd upped the percentage along with the other party types and didn't realize I done so. So now campaign mooch parties at only 5%. :-)

Anyway, thanks to both of you for the info. This helps. But are there any settings that deal with accidental death or is that all just random and not controllable?
