Inheriting Occult Trait

Post by arathea » December 2nd, 2018, 10:22 am

I know, random is random and a 50% chance isn't that much but my wizard has now 4 children and none of them got the occult trait.

I do have all the occults disabled in options so that the game doesn't turn random sims into occults. In SP I have hybrid chance set to 0 (since I don't have Hybrid installed) and occult mutation chance also set to 0. Does some of these settings (or others that I'm not aware of) prevent sims to inherit those traits or does he simply have to try some more to get his heir/heiress?

I'm pretty sure if you shut down the occult states in the game options, then no sims will be born having those states. Game Options like that tend to work as master on/off switches for certain features.

Under NRaas SP, already existing sims do not randomly turn into occults. There has to be an in-game reason for this to happen such as being born or spawned (immigrated in) that way, use of elixirs/spells, being "turned," or making use of the SP Personality modules and some of its scenarios. It's EA's story progression that does the random thing where your best friend or mother-in-law is suddenly an occult for no real reason.

Under NRaas SP, if two parents have the same occult state, then there is a 100% chance the child will (if the state is switched on and the world is not over the SP soft population cap for that type of occult). If one parent has an occult state and the other is human, then 50% unless the grandparents' genetics are coming into play. If each parent has one different occult state then, without hybrids being allowed for, it will be a 50% chance of one and a 50% chance of the other with no chance of a human baby unless again the town's population cap for that occult has been reached.

Thank you! :) I've turned on the occults in options and he's hoping for child No. 5 now. I did turn them off long ago and since I have almost never occults in my game, I never missed anything.
