Multiple descendant families

Post by Kralore » November 2nd, 2013, 5:31 am

I just installed the new SP modules (SP,Career,Extra,Money,Population,Relationship and Skill). My sim was in the homeworld when installed. I traveled to the normal future and found 3 separate descendant families. Each family is in a separate house. All Families say Jenning's Decendants, family 1 has 2 members, family 2 has 6 members and family 3 has 7 members. Just wondering if this is WAI?

I suspect not, but more importantly do you have the latest Traveler installed? Traveler would be the more appropriate mod relating to ITF Descendants than Story Progression.

My game gave me two families in a vanilla game (testing before modding), based on changes I made in the present, so that might not be a glitch.

While in your homeworld, did you ever switch household?

Maybe you did and this broke the link between the original Jenning's Descendants and the Jenning household, so when you returned to the Jenning household and went back to the future (!), a new bunch of descendants was created yet the old one was not removed.

And that question was for Kralore, btw. :)

Traveler was and is updated before I put in the new story progression. I had traveled back and forth between normal and future twice before putting in SP and it had generated only 1 descendant family, but after I had also been thinking it was maybe multiple houses to allow for more than 8 descendants. After I left my initial post I had gone back to normal time, triggered a change, then went back to the future and there was only 2 descendant households, so they are being removed properly I think. I didn't switch households at all but I did move from one house to another in same hood to trigger change in future for that one time traveler opportunity you get. I should also note that when there is/was more than 1 descendant house, the zoom to descendant button in the time travel almanac wasn't working at all. (ie, not zooming to descendant). And on a last note, for Twallan, SP map tags show descendant house if set to All, but Blood is not showing the tag. I guess descendant isn't in the family tree in the same way family members are.

Well, you can always reset the future to start from scratch. The descendants are rather ephemeral anyhow.

Just a quick update. Loaded the same save from this morning. Last time it gave me 2 descendant, and this time has again made 2 descendant homes. (thank god for spell check, I just can't seem to spell descendant right LOL)

At this point I agree. Descendants aren't a necessity for game play, But I wanted to be sure to let Twallan know, in case it is some issue with SP that may hinder things down the line. I will get my sim to level 10 in Adv. tech and see what effect resetting the time continuum has.

It would not be an issue with Traveler as Frimlin noted.

There was another thread earlier about a similar issue. Not sure whether the effect is something to be concerned about as yet. :)
