How does the "TimeBoost" variable work?

No one knows everything this mod can do. Did you know you can tune the size of your sims nostrils with this mod? I'm kidding.

How does the "TimeBoost" variable work?

Post by emissary » June 29th, 2019, 11:57 am

I've been trying, and failing, to increase the speed at which my sims invent objects so that I can get the skill challenges out of the way. In the process of poking around to try to figure out the solution on my own (which is probably a bad idea), I realized that I have no idea how some of the Returner variables work. Some of the TimeBoost variables seem as if they would be of assistance, but I cannot tell whether I should increase or decrease the number as my experiments have proven mostly inconclusive (in part because I am trying to play it very safe when messing with Retuner variables I do not quite understand).
Can anyone explain to me how this function works?

I can't answer this with the highest of certainty, but the way I read the master ITUN file, it seems to me that the four Timeboost values are applied when the conditions that they relate to are already met. For example, the one for kEccentricTraitTimeBoost would kick in only of the sim has that trait, and higher would mean they invent faster. I don't see how any of them would have any impact if the conditions are not met.

I've tried messing with kEccentricTraitTimeBoost and I have seen no real difference in inventing time by an eccentric Sim no matter how high I set it.
EDIT: Nevermind, seems the problem is that I was using whole numbers instead of decimals. My Sim is inventing at the speed of light now. Many thanks.
