How does Retuner work?

No one knows everything this mod can do. Did you know you can tune the size of your sims nostrils with this mod? I'm kidding.

How does Retuner work?

Post by LaBlue0314 » February 22nd, 2016, 4:12 am

I've read where you can slow down the day, and I have used this mod a couple of times in the past. But all I managed to do was to slow down the time during the day, plus slow down how long it takes for my sim to do things. How do I adjust the setting to make my sim's day more productive and still enjoy some extra free time for what ever?

Do you mean Relativity?

Retuner is used for tuning aspects of the game. Relativity is for slowing down time and that is the whole point of the mod. It shouldn't affect how slow or fast your sims do things, unless you alter the Relative Motives. I'm not sure about this though - could do with some more guidance myself. Relativity is quite complex lol!

You might like to have a look at the settings I use: https://simsarahsarah.tumblr.com/relativity - I altered the Relative Motive for Hygiene as my sims were taking too long to bath/shower but haven't noticed the other motives being affected in this way. :-)

Most of us use Relativity to speed up how long it takes sims to do routine things (relative to the game clock, not relative to real time). So, for example, eating a meal or taking a shower takes fewer sim minutes, thus giving your sim more time during their day to get other things done and not requiring for example that they get out of bed at 4am to have what some would call a normal morning before work/school. Although it can be used the other way around to make sims take more sim minutes to get things done, I've never seen anyone report using it that way.

But yeah, I'm confused about which mod is being asked about as well. :)

Yes I meant Relativity. I was doing something with Returner, and still had it on my brain.

I also have a question to this mod.
I play with slowed down time. Now the actions last substantially longer. What do I have to change, so that (for example), a meal does not last any more so long? The Relative Motive for Hunger? I am confused ;-)

@Audina;
You will need to see it separate:
1. Meals are from dishes, totally different tuning, not handled in Relativity
2. Hunger Motive is adjustable in Relativity Motive Hunger to slow down the decay / faster decay of the Hunger Motive so your Sim wants its next meal.

I believe for 1. you should be able to adjust the spoonfill or something like that with Retuner, that either slow down eating or fasten up eating a dish/meal. There are tuning Mods out there that does this as well.

Currently not on my own PC have to look it up, but at least you know there is a glimmer of hope ;-)

Well, quite slowly I understand ;-)
Up to now I have changed the Motives Decay Factors without slowing down the time. This has wonderfully functioned.
The difference to the Relative Motives is that they "adapt themselves" to the slowed down time? And the Motives Decay Factors "adapt themselves" to the normal speed?

J4Ks, many thanks for your helpful answers. You have already very often helped me.

Okay, I fount a tuning Mod for faster eating. I hope, the eating will still be faster with the time slowed down :-). And I also will take a look at the Retuner ;-)

You could open that mod in S3PE and look how its tuned, than see if they are accessible in Retuner.

Long time ago one of our members - Image Sarah_Sims posted the question how to set it up in Retuner to have them eat faster (I think) with slowdown speed through Retuner.

I've gathered the info from that thread and stored it in my own documentation. In here you'll see the tuning that needs to be changed in Retuner, by reducing the default value under EatHeldFood to around 50%. My personal taste was about 33% and with a little tweaking in Relativity of the Hunger Motive as I would like to have them eat 2 meals during the day.

When I play The Sims 3 (been a while though) it's on Relativity Speed of 16.

And to answer your question:
Q/A: The difference to the Relative Motives is that they "adapt themselves" to the slowed down time?
Q/B: And the Motives Decay Factors "adapt themselves" to the normal speed?

A/A: Yes, I don't change anything in the Relative Motive.
A/B: It should, but some doesn't feel quite right. I think that patch 1.67 threw some of the figures off and there was an attempt to correct it with a new version (V24) of Relativity, but that one failed.
Luckily we can just adjust the same thing with those Motives Decay settings and change the value to 0,... (slower) or 1,.... (faster). You just need to feel it out whatever is too your taste.

If interested these are my values on speed 16 (I don't play with SNL Occults and Pets):
Bladder 1,1
Brain Power 1
Destruction 1
Energy 0,97
Exercise 1
Fun 1,25
Horse Thirst 1
Hunger 1,29
Hygiene 1
Scratch 1
Social 1,14
Vampire Thirst 1
