Export/Import tuning

No one knows everything this mod can do. Did you know you can tune the size of your sims nostrils with this mod? I'm kidding.

Export/Import tuning

Post by Tommee1 » October 1st, 2016, 1:59 am

Is there a way to export and import the altered tuning between worlds like export/import settings in MC and SP?

I use Overwatch to do this. NRaas > Overwatch > Immediate > Export (or Import) > Select the mod(s)' settings you want exported/imported. Usually do Retuner separately from the others, not sure why though as it does seem to work either way for me.

What is the difference between export settings and export tuning? BTW I am in an old game now and will try the overwatch method.

I believe that Export Tuning creates an XML file for use in making your own tuning files. Was assuming here that you really wanted a Library file like the other mods provide.

Yes I have an XML tuning file created in May for Returner. I was wanting to be clear that I understood the difference in exporting returner settings versus making a tuning file. I just exported settings from an old game using Overwatch, and I just modified returner using a tuning file. I have not been back in game yet, but do those handle different things? The tuning file and export settings, are they different?

The way I understand it, a tuning file is read by the game earlier in the startup process and would allow all of your games in all worlds to have the same (default) Retuner settings starting out. A settings export creates a Library file, viewable (but useless) in Edit Town with an empty icon but that can be used to import settings changes by command using Overwatch. You can essentially accomplish the same thing either way but in the case of Retuner I think settings changes will overwrite a tuning file because the mod's settings get loaded much later in the game's startup sequence. Settings whether they got there by command menu or being imported are world-specific, not global like the tuning file is.

But you may want to wait for someone else here to confirm what I've just said in case I've got it all twisted around somehow. I never use the export to tuning file method for this mod, always just settings.

ok, I used the tuning for returner since that is something I want for all worlds anyways, but I did get all other settings imported with Overwatch. Thanks for the info.
