Retuner Settings

No one knows everything this mod can do. Did you know you can tune the size of your sims nostrils with this mod? I'm kidding.

I just tried your idea Chain about changing the number from 0 to 99 and it worked! I also d/led most all of the "Children Can" mod. It works great. I took the one child to the science center to learn gardening. Also, one of the features of the whole mod was to have a child read a music book. Is there a way to have them read say, the nectar making book? She has a nectar making ability in the mod, but the child doesn't gain any skill w/o getting the initial training to start the skill. Unless it's hidden. Adults start gaining visible skill right away, but there was no skill bar above his (the boy) head.

Is it possible to make a mod to enable a child either read the nectar book or gain skill using the nectar makers? My sim child is not gaining any skill in spite of the fact that he is making the nectar.

When a sim gains a skill that is really meant for ones older than their current age stage, often enough the accumulated skill points show up after they age. It could be what is happening here, on a test run not meant to be savedyou could age your child up and see if the practiced nectar making catches up with them the next time they attempt to make some. This is also how EA did it with much of the toddler skill building.

@Sonshine7, I see the same thing with the sculpting skill. Children can sculpt but they don't seem to learn the skill and can't seem to make a sculpture worth enough to satisfy the initial wish to 'sculpt something worth (30, 50??) simoleons". I just gave up on that one.

Thanks Igazor, I'll try that and see what happens. Otherwise, maybe I should give up too until he's a teen. I'll let you know the outcome.

I saved the game, set him to his birthday and tried the nectar making again and he started from scratch on the skill part. The skill bar started from the very bottom and when he did get the skill, it was only 1. So children may be able to make nectar w/this mod, but they do not get any skill. He only has 3 days to go til teen so I'll just have to wait, lol. I'm still wondering though, she made it possible for children to read music score books, maybe somebody else can see what she did and make it so they can get skill.

Isn't there a mod at MTS that allows children to read skill books? Runs off to check: Yes, it's by Chaavik. However if you already have a mod that allows all books to be buyable in the bookstore it will conflict. But there is a version of the mod that includes all buyable along with allowing children to read skill books.

"If you want only the mod to allow children to read skill books, get ChildrenCanReadSkillBooks-AM.

If you want both the children to read skill books and have all of the books available for purchase at the local bookstore, then get ChildrenCanReadSkillBooksAndAllBuyableBooks-AM."

It doesn't look like s/he kept the that combined mod up to date though. http://modthesims.info/d/355756

Thanks Tangie! For other skills, I might try this. However, w/nectar making, I don't think there are any skill books related to it except one that's too advanced for a beginner. I'll pay attention to what level he can read it when he ages up. To Igazor, Brappl and other admins, I hope this thread isn't going too far off the original topic.

I also found this mod: http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=500201

It's a little vague but apparently there are extra skill books that allow all skills to be learned. It also allows you to speed up skill learning if so desired. I haven't tried it and it conflicts with anything that uses the books.xml so I think I'll try it in a test game. Can't do that tonight, though.

Also, he states that children can learn most skills but not all. (No idea which, he just states some didn't make any sense for children.)
