Register interfereing with Simfest

Post by daciasil » February 9th, 2014, 6:05 am

Hi,

When I have register installed, simfests do no work properly. Even though there are sims in the town with performer careers, no one shows up, and even the stage in unselectable ie no watch the show option. I remember a while back Twallan talking about handling NPC performers and simfests in register. I opened up the dll in reflector, and there is some coding to handle simfests in Nraas.RegisterSpace.Helpers (ShowStageEx). I took out register and sim fests are working properly. I think something in this bit of coding needs tweaking or maybe scrapped.
Thanks :)

Hmm. You said no one shows up even if you have Sims in the town with the showtime careers? I see where Twallan broke the generation of homeless Sims to be in the simfest but residents of the town should still show up if they are in the showtime careers. Are you sure they are still in those careers and StoryProgression hasn't reassigned them?

Initially I also thought the problem was due to SP reassigning roles, so I made sure the homeless with showtime careers were not stuck tending a role. I kept tabs on them with SP's sim icons and master controller's status. They were just idling about town during the simfests.

I tried to have an active sim in a showtime career participate in a simfest, but after being accepted by the proprietor, the stage is unclickable. The sim can't even 'watch performance' because the stage is unclickable. I reset and replaced the stage and the issue persisted in the next simfest. When I took out the register the issue was resolved and everything worked properly.

Perhaps you could just remove all the coding regarding simfests from the register, even as a temporary fix?
That would be really great :)

The homeless system is broken. I am referring to non-homeless residents in the town. If you put some of those in the Showtime careers and set "Allow Find Job -> false" on them with SP then SimFest system should work. I don't really want to allow the homeless system to run rampant like it does under EA so I'll have to ponder how to allow it to run without interfering with other role Sims.

I can sort of confirm daciasil's issue in a game that I played last with patch 1.63/1.66. It is an existing save where I had added some 10 residents in the Showtime careers apart from my active two and had reduced the number of performance venues to one. During two Simfests none of the inactive residents showed up and my active Sims were unable to participate nor could they watch the non-existing show. When the proprietor accepted my Sims as participants they said that they would be next and then that was it, nothing happened after that.
Quote: "I tried to have an active sim in a showtime career participate in a simfest, but after being accepted by the proprietor, the stage is unclickable. The sim can't even 'watch performance' because the stage is unclickable. I reset and replaced the stage and the issue persisted in the next simfest." I tried this, too, and had the same experience.
I don't use SP.

Sounds like another case of the code says one thing but behaves different. Does anyone know what happens under vanilla in the event that no one else but the active Sim enters? Do they just automatically win?

I played a vanilla game and my active sim was the only participant in the simfest. He won the simfest.

Alright so something in the stage code is broken too then if one can't participate at all regardless if others enter. Thanks for that info.

Right. Think I nailed this issue. A test version of Register should be available within the next day or two.
