Tested the WA Food Register w/o blue's mod in. The option to buy groceries is there.
Rather than selecting 'Buy Food,' if you select 'Buy' the option to buy prepared foods as well as groceries is present.
There are buttons to select Produce, Fish, Meat and Cheese, Prepared Food. You can also sell through the WA food register.

If you don't want your merchants tied to their registers 24/7, blue's "Merchant Hours Adjustment..." mod limits the time they're working.
For example, the food register (grocery) would have opening/closing hours of 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. I always hated seeing the merchants working 24/7 as their default hours.

@LeeAlee - Since we don't have the ability to edit posts here, there are no rules about double (and triple) posts if you have more information to add to that which you have just said. An entire page filled with sixteen posts in a row with no responses from others in between...well, that might be a bit iffy unless there was a really good reason for it.

Ok now I'm having other problems with this register. I added the WA General Store register and assigned a sim to tend it. The assignment is enabled, and it's only 7pm. I sent another sim to buy groceries and she cant because it says the store is closed. The one assigned to tend the register is there, but wandering around the other attached stores instead of staying put at the till. How do you make the store OPEN and not closed and keep the register attendant with the register.

The merchant is probably wandering around wondering what they are doing in a grocery store. The General Store register is not the same as the WA Food Register, is it? I thought the General Store sold things like tents and dried food.

I think the general store register sells that stuff plus produce, eggs etc. I could be wrong. This new way of playing is becoming a pain the the you know where LOL, and I'm not even playing yet, just setting up all my registers, getting sims placed and organised. While I'm doing that, the ones placed are wandering off to the attached bakery and making pies - Idiot! LOL

I thought the General Store Register only works in China, Egypt and France.
