Problem with Register and SP

Role Sims, homeless, service Sims, oh my. Something tells me we're not in Sunset Valley anymore.

Problem with Register and SP

Post by littlelambsy » October 20th, 2017, 10:30 pm

I'm still in the process of setting up Cladbridge and have adjusted all my setting for a different style of gameplay. I've move in one sim for testing.
1. I have Register set at zero for stay cats, dogs and horses (deer and Racoon allowed) Now I find strays wandering around town.
2. I have Register set at Allow resident assignment set to False. I want to place my own residents in register positions. I can't remember where the setting is but I also set it so the game won't place staff in the community lots.
3. I have not allowed immigration but have a family in one of my houses. How do I stop the game from adding families to my town?

1 - I'm not sure that 0 settings ever worked for strays entirely. But they shouldn't hang around in your world very long. :(

2 -
NRaas > Register > Allow Immigration is the one that allows or disallows the mod to spawn new homeless NPCs to take up vacant role postions.
NRaas > Register > Allow Resident Assignment is the one that allows or disallows unemployed residents to be assigned to vacant role positions.

But in addition to those, can you not just switch off Enable Assignment on each Role object that you don't want Register to assign anyone to?

3 - I would want to know who this family is and where they came from. They can't be from SP Immigration if you have that shut down. Guess they can't be household splits from other residential families if you have none other than your active sim/household yet. Do any of them have jobs or (as per above) have they been given Role assignments?

Thanks igazor, I do have Register set to Allow Immigration False. I get notices every few seconds about roles available but also none filled, which is what I want at the moment. I'm just using my one sim for testing things out, then I'll move in who I want to man the registers and assign them myself. The only register I have in game at the moment is the bookstore. All other venues have the savvier seller registers that are not set up yet. I also have the game set to clean out homeless. I just checked the family and none have jobs, they're listed as unemployed and have no role position.

I suspect it's SP's Manage the Homeless then, helpfully saving that household for you (however they got to be in your world) and giving the a nice place to live that you so thoughtfully provided. I never see new households arriving in my worlds and taking up residence unless they are clearly just immigrating in as they should be or I am moving them in myself and I never use that SP setting. Nor do I have OW set to Clean Up the Homeless either -- mine are clean enough as they are, thanks. :)

LOL but I don't want strange people moving in to my world. Then while trying to figure out who these people are, I notice a horse trying to get into another house, and found a stray cat on my sims doorstep. Couldn't figure that out as I have dogs cats and horses at Zero. I'm going to just keep building and testing and see who and what's around at the end. Then I'll just TA the town if necessary.

I've come to believe that "Manage the Homeless" means take care of them. Not necessarily delete them -- this is SP's option I'm talking about, not OW. Every time I hear players complaining that strangers are moving into their worlds but it's not immigration, it's this (or something like it). My point was, why not just let them be homeless? That doesn't mean indigent, it can mean they are commuting in from elsewhere to do...well, not sure what they would be doing if you aren't allowing them to take up role positions and you don't need coworkers yet. Be Showtime street performers, maybe?

And, by the way, since that horse and cat would also be "homeless," that just adds more evidence to my theory. :)

Good point :) I just checked OW and that's set to clean up homeless as well. When I start playing this town and have assigned all my residents their positions around town, I'll probably change that setting for homeless and allow them. I don't mind having homeless sims. I just didn't like them being assigned to registers. The stray animals bug me. They're always whining or barking at my sims door and ripping up newspapers. If they were good little critters I wouldn't mind them. But you invite them in and they tear up your house! Horses always get stuck and accumulate in small area. So I just don't allow them.... although this one snuck in somehow :)

^^^And that's one reason why I don't allow animals in my game. I think the funniest and most annoying was when a wild horse somehow got on top of the flat roof on my sims house and ate his garden that I had on the roof :)~

LOL! And I, on the other hand, would not have wanted to miss that funny and annoying moment for anything. (makes mental note to add more strays and flat roofed houses to my game...)
