Assigned Role Sims keeps changing automatically even after I manually changed them with Register.
For example, in my Sunset Valley save, I assigned Narcissa Vatos with the Consignment Specialist role and was notified that she was assigned to that role. But after a few seconds, I got a notification that it was Dave Ramsey who got that role and not Narcissa.
This also applies to other roles such as proprietor, bartender, bouncer, etc. I had to manually assign sims several times before the game finally stop changing the role sims that I chose.
Anybody know why my game acted like this? For information, I set immigration to "false" and all of the sims that I chose happens to be from the homeless pool, including the Food Merchant roles which should be filled with residents and not homeless sims according to the wiki.

Don't think I've heard of this issue before. Are you running the current/most recent version of Register?
If the issue is entirely reproducible, what happens if you try a test run with only NRaas mods in play, script cache cleared? Same thing or do the role assignments stick the first time as they should?
Am a bit confused by the Food Merchant bit at the end. Those are WA world roles. Have you placed WA food vending lots in SV or are you saying that the issue extends itself to foreign worlds? Or am I interpreting "merchant" incorrectly and you mean some other kind of food vending object?

I couldn't tell, but I think all my Nraas mods are the latest version considering the first time I downloaded most of them was in 2021 or 2022.
It seems the problem arise when my household was loaded into the game for the first time and I started assigning the role sims manually before the game assigned them automatically, so I had to wait for the game to finish assigning all the role sims before I start changing them.
As for the last part, I mistook the Food Merchant from Seasons for the Location Merchant from WA. Food Merchants are basically sims who tend the food stands on festival lots that came with Seasons. The problem is, I don't know if the sims who fill this role by default are resident or homeless sims.

Oh wait, this makes more sense (to me) now. Register, like most of the mods here, is a Script Mod. Mods like these need a few minutes of game clock time before they load fully, so it's not totally functional immediately when starting up and pausing a game session. Between that and the game trying to make its own role slot assignments, yes you could be fighting a losing battle there again immediately or almost so upon startup.
On the Seasons food stands, I'm not sure there is a meaningful default there. It more likely depends on which sims are available for use, or which ones the game thinks are available.

Thanks for the explanation igazor.

Normally all role and service sims are homeless NPCs, mean not residents.RandyDrx post_id=99385 time=1707157893 user_id=25833 wrote:I don't know if the sims who fill this role by default are resident or homeless sims
You can enable in Register to assign also residents, but personally I would not recommend to use it.
You can click any sim and use Mastercontroller status personel or household and you get information to it.

Now you have me curious. Why?C-Dark post_id=99424 time=1707327339 user_id=236 wrote: You can enable in Register to assign also residents, but personally I would not recommend to use it.
Service Sims have to be homeless NPCs. There's no debating that. If the player makes such a sim into a resident by adding them to or giving them a resident household, then they drop their service assignment immediately. If they force a Service Sim assignment onto a resident, then they instantly become homeless.
But not Role Sims, they can happily be homeless NPCs or residents. I personally would not recommend playing an active household that has Role Sims in it, but several of my rotational household do and I give these sims regular careers or self-employed jobs when I rotate in and actively control them. But other than there not being much of a chance for progression no matter how it's done when a sim has to work ridiculous hours 7 days/wk with no time off, am not seeing why there would be any issues with inactive residents taking up those slots.
For others following along here, or trying to, who might be confused over the difference between these sim types or would like a refresher, perhaps this FAQ will help.

I remember that once in my game, Cornelia Goth was assigned the stylist role, so it appears that not all roles prioritise homeless sims. That said, I always prioritise homeless sims over residents when assigning roles in my game, but is there a reason why you wouldn't recommend assigning residents?C-Dark wrote: ↑February 7th, 2024, 12:35 pmNormally all role and service sims are homeless NPCs, mean not residents.RandyDrx post_id=99385 time=1707157893 user_id=25833 wrote:I don't know if the sims who fill this role by default are resident or homeless sims

I care for all my residents, sometimes I porter the whole town to a fresh world instance. As roles are not real careers or jobs, you get no benefits, I am satisfied with filling them with sims f.i. - I specifically created for roles. I place them from the library and evict them directly, then assigning the role or replace an NPC in CAS with a sim I have in my savedsims folder. Except festival season food stands, these change too often.
I also don't use my residents for roles, just in case something might goes wrong when portering. I also micromanage to fill all default careers with residents 4-5, so no NPC will spawn and hop on and off to fill them. This is really a challenge.
This is my opinion, I remember I experienced in the past a loss, so I never tried it again, but sure - other players might have good experiences with it.

There is a stylist career and a stylist role which are not the same.
