NRAAS Mods Are Crashing the Game

Post by Sonshine » March 17th, 2016, 9:23 pm

Hi, most of the mods on this site are crashing the game. This is just since the last update in I believe Sept. I have a freshly installed copy of the game and the newest framework file as well as a new resource.cfg file (just resource now (at least on my comp)). So far the only mods from here that work are Anti magic scroll, all of the career data files, and the consigner. So far, Animator, cupcake, dreamer, MC cheats, integration, and progression, overwatch, retuner, SP, tempest, and traffic all crash the game. Could somebody here please look into this? Thanks!

Hi, there. We would be happy to help you figure out why your game is crashing, but the mods are fine.

The latest from EA is Patch 1.69, the only one ever to have been delivered by Origin, it was released in November 2015, and re-released in January 2016 as Patch 1.69.43. It changed nothing about gameplay, just the way in which the game starts up, and none of the mods needed an update except for ErrorTrap to squash the core mod version mismatch warning on startup. Not crashes. The last patch that changed anything about gameplay or affected the mods' performance was over two years ago. Many of the mods have been updated since then anyway, including recently, to add new features and quite a few are making their way through testing as usual.

There are some conditions under which NRaas mods will be expected to crash a game. These are not new:
-- You have a mod that involves a store premium item without the premium item installed. Cupcake, for example, will make your game very unhappy if you don't have the EA Store bakery set installed.

-- You have the MC Progression module in place, but are missing either the MC or the SP base mod. Both are required to use that module or the game will crash on startup every time.

-- You somehow got one or more outdated versions meant for prior patch levels.

-- You have a severe conflict with a mod from another source.

Are any of these within the realm of possibility? If not, I would ask that you install ErrorTrap (the correct version for your patch level), MC, and let's say MC Cheats only, clear caches, and see if your game starts up. If it throws any script errors, please zip them together and upload so we can take a look.

Only the cupcake one. I don't have the bakery installed in my current version of the game although I do have it in one of my other saves. I d/led MC base mod, but none of the others worked. I uninstalled and reinstalled my game not knowing that I probably just had to go to the expansion packs tab (had played S3 for several months). I have tried loading the game w/just these individual mods w/no luck.

So setting Cupcake aside then, it is now the case that your game launches with no mods at all but if you put in let's say Dreamer or Overwatch, just one, from your list and delete the scriptCache.package file, the game crashes. At what point does it crash? Do you get it to load at all first? Can you start a new game or is this only with an older, ongoing save? And what about ErrorTrap as suggested?

Not sure what you have tried from Igazors post, but if you still have the Cupcake mod in your modsetup, remove it immediately. You either have it installed or you don't, regardless if you have have it placed in one of your Saves, if the Bakery Premium Content isn't installed than after loading up that Save the item will be replaced with something else and Cupcake will crash your game due to missing Bakery Installment.

If none of these mods works on your setup, you will have to look at your Mods Framework carefully. Either check this page: CheckList or move your Mods\ folder from your Sims 3 User Directory (Documents\EA\TS3) to your desktop and follow the instructions from here: http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Gam ... _and_Files (where you can get a ready to go Framework + tests if your mods Framework is actually working).

If you still are having problems to get the mods to work, you did try to start the game with no Mods installed and you confirmed it working on factory settings? If so, please provide us with a visual view on your Mods Framework:

Take THREE screenshots... one each of the following locations, with the Explorer/Finder window showing the Details View:
> Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\
<ul class="quotelist"><li>Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\</li><li>Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages\</li></ul>
Upload the Screenshot to a free hostingsite like for example Photobucket.com / TinyPic and post the direct links of those screenshots on a post within this thread.

We might need more from you, but maybe these screenshots are enough to give us a clue why your Mods Framework isn't working.

Thanks Igazore and J4Ks! I hadn't thought of conflicts between mods. I did remove ALL mods from my package folder. So far, I've found that Overwatch by itself works. Overwatch combined w/nointro does not work and Overwatch even combined w/Consigner (just those 2 packages and no others) does not work. At the moment, I have NO other package files in my game. Yes, I removed Cupcake since that mod requires the bakery to work. I also removed my cache files including the script cache. I'm in the process now of finding all of the conflicts. J4Ks, I got my framework package from that site that you linked to.

What I'm trying to understand and figure out is why these mods are conflicting (excluding the nointro one). I've always used them together before w/no problems.

This is a mystery still then. NRaas mods were made to work with each other. Many of us here use most if not all of them. They do not conflict with each other for the vast majority of users. There is something unusual about your install, framework, or computer's environment that we haven't figured out yet.

What operating system are you on? Is this a retail disc install, all Origin, Steam, a mixture, or something else? We would still like to see the visuals of your Mods and subfolders as J4Ks asked.

I use Win 7/64 bit. I also use a mixture of sims installs. Most of them are from disk, but I got SN from Origin as a digital d/l. I also got ITF as a digital, but now I have the disk. I think I opened my disk one before I realized that EA had changed things around. How can I post pics of my folders? I don't think this site allows pics to be posted unless you mean by a third party site like Flickr. I can do that.

Oh and I run this on a PC. In most instances, I can get the loading screen ok and also start loading the family, but it's just when the family is just at the end and just about ready to finish loading is when I get the error screen. I've also been having some problems w/the political career. I replaced the city hall once when my sim could not go to work at all and now, I had the same problem again only this time, the moment she got the car to go to work, she would instantly teleport back into the house. The same thing would happen if I put her right outside the city hall doors. I click on "work" and the moment I go live, she teleported back to the house. I'm not sure if the problem is related or not.
