@littlelambsy: Yes that's right but what you need to bear in mind is, if you're right-clicking a lot of sims, the dream manager will be running on all of them (as mentioned by J4Ks above) when they're inactive. This will cause extra bloat in your save-file (as mentioned by namaradus and igazor above) if you do it too often.
@igazor: Quote: "As for SP, again I don't manage them this way but isn't that what NRaas > SP > Household Options > Retain Dreams and Opportunities is supposed to do or is that only if you use SP to switch households? (which got left off the list of switching mods above, btw)."
I'm a little confused now. SP didn't get left off the list I linked to in Retaining Dreams or did you mean some other list? In the description there, it states you can do it by household (as you've quoted above) but doesn't mention that you can do it within castes. Is that possible then? If so, how would that work? I'm intrigued.
@J4Ks: Thanks for the clarification.

Thanks Sarah, so if I right click on a different sim at a party to have her/him do something, then right click on another sim, you're saying that both will retain dreams/wishes.... which leads to bloated files. Is there a better way of doing this? I don't want the townie inactives to retain their dreams/wishes, just my rotational families.

Good heavens, we all managed to confuse each other rather quickly on this one.
@Sarah- Sorry, someone else...ah, namaradus, above listed out the methods of switching households using Dream Catcher and SP was not on his list. I didn't mean your post. But now I'm not sure if that attribute shows up in Caste options, to be honest I've never looked for it. Will have to check next time I'm in game unless you've already done so.
@littlelambsy - Periodically use MC to find out which households/sims have Dream Catcher running on them. On City Hall or an in-game computer, NRaas > MC > Sims > (some harmless command like Family Tree) > Filter to Has Dream Manager. If there are some you don't want running, unfortunately I think MC's Drop All Dreams and Opps command is townwide, all or nothing. You might have to switch into those households again then switch out using a non-Dream Catching switch command to kill unwanted dream managers.
