Hi all,
I have a world where Sims have family trees going back 6 generations (I have lifespan set to only 53 days, so everything goes faster). I noticed that SP will marry Sims that are as distantly related as possible, and if not, I have seen marriages where the closest relative in common is 5 generations 5 generations ago. However, I recently put 4 castes in my town that can't marry or have kids with one another. Hence, the available pool of Sims to marry is 1/4 as big now. I imagine in a couple more generations that my caste Sims will run out of distantly related enough partners and I'd like to not have to introduce new Sims to each caste for each generation.
So to my question, how many generations apart to Sims have to be apart for SP to pair them up? I have the "Check all for closely related" setting set to False in SP. Also, is there any way to set this, so that Sims as little as three generations apart can marry and have kids?
Thanks.

If Check All is off, I believe you will be using EA standard there which is 3+ generations away are fair game. First Cousins (sharing a grandparent) are blocked. So are Great Aunts/Uncles/Nieces/Nephews and closer. Second cousins (those sharing a great grandparent) and much to my surprise as I found recently First Cousins Once Removed are okay.
But let's see if anyone else has noted anything different here.

Thanks for the info Igazor. I actually was going off the option by memory, but it's actually called "Check All Ancestors During Closely Related", not "Check all for closely related", but you understood what I meant correctly anyway.
I'm glad that the EA default is only 3+ generations. Still, with 30-40 Sims in each caste (many already share ancestors and some are spouses, children, relatives etc. of each other), I think I'll still have to add new Sims, but at least it seems like it won't have to do it constantly.
