So I keep reading that if I click on the sim and look under Nraas-Basic there's a "Baby..." item on the menu. But there isn't. Is it because my guy is alien pregant?

But it's probably the alien thing. That's not your sim's baby in there, your sim is merely acting as a surrogate so I believe the usual rules of pregnancies do not apply.

That's never worked on alien pregnancies for me. Also, the fruit trick doesn't work either. If you want a boy you can try saving just before birth and reloading. I've had some success with that.
