What would cause this?

Post by JohnL83 » October 11th, 2019, 12:31 pm

I have a game that I was playing today, Twinbrook. I have not played this town in some time and I found an odd glitch that I don't quite understand. Perhaps someone can help me troubleshoot what may have occurred, be it a glitch or something I may have done and forgot?

I was checking out the townies via City Hall and wanted to see who is what age and what families have had babies..etc. When I did this I used Nraas>Sim>Personal>Type of Sim>Human>Resident. I found that I had a couple of sims who'd not aged up. That happens sometimes I know, Overwatch is supposed to fix them and I did double check to see it was set to do so and it was.
I'd played a couple of Sims days before checking the town so IDK why it didn't fix any aging up issues during that time. But that wasn't the really weird thing...
One of my families had a daughter who was a child as far as looks, (I know not just from the pic but one of my sims had her over to play before I did this check) but the game said she was only 47 days old. Baby to Toddlers are set at 65 days total and children have always been set at 125 (aging up at 190) and Teens are 175 (aging up at 365) I have no idea how this child ended up younger than a toddler but still looking like a child. I am quite sure this family had no toddler last time I played and she should have only been a week or so younger than her next oldest sibling who was 75. Has anyone else just had a sim become younger than they are supposed to be? Even if she'd wished this or ate a younger potion or Ambrosia she shouldn't have aged beyond her appeared age I would think.

I also had a couple of teens who moved out on their own but they are not supposed to be able to do that and yes my settings reflect this. Not a huge deal, I just put them back home and found that it was a bedding issue which I fixed. But should teens be moving out on their own if I have the town set to not allow this?

Not sure how to fix the problems you're having, but to stop anyone from moving out of a household you can set Allow Move to False by clicking on the household map tag: Nraas > SP > General > Options: Household > Allow Move = False.
Not sure if you can do this for individual sims in the house by clicking on them.... could try it and see if there's any options for that.

Just a thought, but what are your tagger settings set at for Age. Is it set to show age in days or years?

I know about the use of not allowing people to move out and I do have most of my games set town-wide that only families can move a as whole and not solo moves, but there are a few tweaks I use in different games where I want the town to operate without much interference, but I still don't want teens living on their own. In my mind if you're still in high school you should live with an adult. IDK why I still get a few who move on their own, but it's not really frequent and only once did it have to do with the teen hating his family, but I also turned off allowing enemies among family members so that was an odd glitch too. I would have liked the game to notify me there weren't enough beds before moving out the teen but when I see these messages they always come at once and I don't get advance notice. I also seem to get that they've moved message before I get why they've moved. Not sure what that's about either.

I don't use tagger. That's one of the few mods here I never thought of bothering with. I have SP set to not allow teens to live alone and I thought that was enough. As for the strange age glitch, I'm assuming by the silence in this post that it was just an odd glitch and not something many people have had issue with. Anyway, once I fixed the ages of my sims and played the town a few times it's all working fine.

Are you sure you weren't misreading that and it wasn't saying 47 days until age up?

Yes I am sure. This was her total age. When I made her active and looked at her age via the panel she was showing a negative number. When I pulled her up with the rest of the children in her family (she's one of 5 total children) the others were fine and she was a total of 47 days old. I have no idea what happened, it was a very odd glitch. There were a couple of other sims who were off in age, but not to this extent and not in the negative. They were just NA sims who had not aged up from children and were a few days past needing to do so. It has not happened again and was only with this one child. IDK...really strange. I did reset her and it was the same, so I just fixed her age with MC age absolute.

Also today when I was playing SN in MF my two children vanished from the game at different times. The only way I was able to get them to return was using the MC reset of the sim. They did appear when I clicked the property and pulled up the list of actives, but they were gone from the panel and no where on the lot. And no, not just invisible.

It could have been a glitch in MC the child was probably aging properly but MC was misreading it and putting the Days to Transition in where the Total Age was it usually corrects itself or it was the game itself misreading it and giving MC false data and OverWatch will correct it when it catches it.
