Remove witch's hidden broomstick object

Post by brainbottle » October 7th, 2019, 8:43 pm

Hi, I've been getting back into Sims 3 after a long haitus, and I'm thrilled to find there is still an active community. Hello everyone! So, here is my first question.

I have a witch, that I would like to drive a car. Seems simple enough, right? But she keeps riding a broom, no matter how many times I set the car as her favorite vehicle. I found a mod on mod the sims that allegedly fixes this problem, called "No More Hidden Brooms or Autonomous Broom Riding for Witches". Unfortunately It has a warning that the mod won't fix existing witches (like mine), because they already have a hidden broomstick object installed in their inventory. It has instructions for fixing this using Master controller, as follows:
  • Click on your world's city hall rabbit hole or on any computer in town.
  • Go to NRaas -> MasterController -> Town -> Object Stats -> Inventory and hit the check mark button to accept.
  • Select the objects titled "Objects.Vehicles.HiddenAdultBroom" and "Objects.Vehicles.HiddenChildBroom" (if you have any witch children in your town) and hit accept.
  • In the next window, select the line that says (All) and hit accept. You will get a popup that says "Flushed: X Objects". All this means is that you have deleted (or "flushed" from your world) these hidden brooms. Now, once you've manually deleted them, my mod will prevent them from returning again whenever you reload your save.
These instructions neglected to mention that I would have to install an additional Cheats mod on top of Master Controller, to even see Town->Object Stats. Be that as it may, after installing Cheats I was able to get as far as seeing and selecting the hidden broom object as a menu option, but it doesn't give me the option to delete it. I'm not even sure what it DOES do, but it doesn't "flush" the broom.

Is there some trick to deleting objects through Town->Object Stats that I'm not getting? Is there a simpler way to just delete one invisible object from one sim's inventory, rather than through an entire town interface? Thinking even further outside the box, is there some entirely different way to disable hidden brooms overriding favorite cars, using retuner? Thanks in advance for any advice.

ZzZzzzzz...hmm? Wait, you woke us all up over here for that?!

Just kidding, of course. :P

Hi there. The instructions that the MTS developer gave were correct, except for the part about leaving out the MC Cheats module requirement. Once you find and select the broom in the Object Stats window, you need to hit the checkmark at the bottom of the window to accept the choice(s). Might this be the missing step? You should then be presented with a second window with all of the types of objects in the class selected and checkmarked (there's probably only one for hidden brooms) and this is where the "All" choice also appears. Select and checkmark to accept again. There will be an "Are you sure?" kind of nag, checkmark a third time to accept and that's where the "Flushed x number of objects" message appears.

I just tried this using MC > Household on a household that had two witches and it worked as expected. The two hidden brooms were gone when I went back to attempt to Flush again. Then I tried using MC > Town on City Hall and flushed all the others in town. There won't be any net impact of my having done so since I don't have Buckley's mod and I expect for me that the hidden brooms will just come right back again when they are next called for. There likely is a way to emulate what the mod does using Retuner, but I expect that the requirement to flush already existing hidden brooms in order for it to work for existing witches would be the same.

Huh. It worked this time. And now I also realize that there is both an "object info" option and also a different "object stats" option, I must have previously used the wrong one. This interface will take some getting used to. But in any case, my problem is solved! Thanks!
