Nraas Porter Crashing

Post by Unforeseen » September 23rd, 2019, 4:57 am

Hi there,

I have been using Porter on and off for years without a problem, until yesterday! I have the version that states and supports 1.69 but every time I click 'pack' my game goes to not responding.. It's so bizarre because I've done this sooo many times and it's always worked up until now.

I tried it with a family and a single household and it still crashes.

I don't know if it's due to the new version or not but this is the only difference.. is it possible to have the old one at all just to see if it makes a difference? I'm completely stumped why it's suddenly not working when I've done it so many times in the past. Nothing has changed about my game since I last used it other than the file. - I'm assuming the files are no longer available? but I thought I would ask lol.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Any help would be great!

Porter hasn't actually been updated since Patch 1.63 was released. I wouldn't recommend trying to use the prior 1.55-57 version on a current patch level.

Have you tried re-downloading the mod in case something went wrong with your original download to see if that helps? Also as a test, can you get the mod to work on a new test game, running on a clean no content TS3 user game folder with only NRaas mods in play?

I see, thank you!

I'm wondering if my neighbourhood is just too big and so it can't cope when I click pack? I've re-downloaded the mod yes.

I will try running it on a new test game and will report back to you.

So Porter is working on other neighbourhoods. It finally started working on my current neighborhood too, well, at least the option came up but it keeps crashing when trying to pack the families.

I didn't take all the CC out yet. I don't know what's going on with my game but my mods just aren't working. I normally have households over 8 sims with master controller and that no longer works now either. I've been playing this game for years without issues and my Nraas mods have always worked.. until now.

Can you use Porter to pack up one family on your ongoing game, again just as a test, or does it crash on one household as well? There is a difficult to define limit as you have probably already read as to how many sims can be packed and unpacked that way.

On the household size issue, MC only allows Greater Than Eight specifically by way of MC commands such as Add Sim, Pollinate, Adopt, or Instant Baby, and only when that MC option is set. It never did allow larger households to form organically, sims to move into an already stuffed household through in-game or Edit Town commands, babies to be conceived/born into an overstuffed household, or overstuffed households to hold together when the active household is switched out. Those things are all possible, but other mods are required for them to work..

I pack one family fine, and then when I try others it seems to crash.

Oh really? I thought I've moved sims into a house with their being more than 8 when trying to move. Maybe there's a mod I'm forgetting? to be honest I'm at a loss. I've pretty much given up on my game :'(

Thanks so much for answering I really appreciate it.

As per the link I provided, in order to move sims into or out of an overstuffed household using either the move by phone/computer in-game interactions or by way of Edit Town, the Mover mod is required. Again, MC only covers MC commands.

I understand that Porter is giving you issues at the moment, at least with this one world, but that doesn't mean everything else is breaking down.

Can you identify anything unique about the crashing families? Special occults? Large family trees? Large inventories?

They have a big family tree. Other than that, the inventories are small. I’ve moved them around multiple times for years as it’s a long generation without any problems. I’m thinking maybe it’s the actual world is too big and it can’t cope.

ive still not been able to play all this time. I’m thinking of sadly losing the family tree and just manually moving them to a new world and re tie their family trees with a mod. It’s so frustrating

Can you provide the save file on a file hosting site like onedrive, google drive, mediafire or such and details on which family you try to pack that recreates the crash? I don't have much time to debug the issue now but if it is an issue with Porter I will try to sort it out eventually.
