New Script Error- Group Science Project???

Post by JohnL83 » September 16th, 2019, 6:10 pm

I'm not sure what this error is about. I get it around the start of every game with this particular town. I have no sim that I've played use this object and I'm not sure what it's about. I did an object stats on the town and this object isn't in the town that I can see, but the picture of it appears in the pop-up that comes with the script error. It's that group science machine from Uni. No one has been to Uni in this town for a very long time.

The object is showing as existing on the World Lot (meaning not on any defined lot in particular) at map coordinates (-20000.0000, -20000.0000, -20000.0000), which is not a valid map location. Thus you won't be able to focus on it as it would appear to be hovering in mid-air or underwater, something like that, but I'm surprised it doesn't show up under Object Stats under one of the lesser used filters like Local or Global.

Any sims in your town with a maxed out Science skill? Looks like the game could be trying to put it their family inventory and ET is removing it.

Thanks guys, I will check it all out next game.

Sittingbear- Not sure about who has a maxed science skill, but I do have a couple of sims who's focus is Science, but they are not anyone in my usual rotation.

Igazor- I didn't try the Global Obj Stats but a couple of the others. "Not in Inventory" generally covers the town when done from City Hall so I didn't think to use other options. I did do fam inv and sim inv though and did not see the science machine.

I will post an update if I find anything.

Inactive sims as long as they have access to the proper skill building items are fully capable of maxing out any skill without user intervention.
Not just sims in the Science Career but also sims in the Medical Career and Fishing and Gardening Self-employed Careers will use the Science skill.
If they have access to the UNI skill building items the Science Research Station and or the Anatomy Skeleton from build/buy or if any lots such as user made lots that have these items any sim can learn the Science skill.

New Script Error- Group Science Project???

Post by JohnL83 » September 16th, 2019, 11:45 pm

Thanks Sittingbear, I do know that though. I have a lot of sims in all my towns who have reached all sorts of levels in my different games, both my rotational actives and townies that I never play.

Okay, so I found the group science research machine via Object Stags Global and by Local and I deleted it. But while I was playing the game I got another error trap for the same thing!
I'm not sure why the game is insisting on giving someone this machine but I'd really like it to stop.

I have not found out who's maxed out in the science field just yet. I have not actually looked as that may take some time and I'm headed for bed soon. I've never had this issue in any of my many other games, all of which I have had science people in and several who've reached level 10, some playable and some NA. At least as far as I can remember. Any ideas why this is happening?

I have no idea what's going on there. But you should be able to run many MC commands from City Hall/computer, let's say Sim >Basic > Family Tree as a harmless one, and filter to the Science Skill to see how many and which sims are at Level 10. Doesn't that filter separate them out by level within the skills?

Use Nraas>MC>Demographics>Population>Skill and then search for the Science skill and see if any sims have it.

Indeed level 10 grants them the station. Not sure why ET is angry over it, that may be a bug. If you delete them all and stop them from gaining Science skill with SP (if you're using that) it should stop. However you said you've had other level 10 science Sims and this wasn't an issue? Were they inactive? That might be the issue.
