How to undo a genie wish?

Post by JohnL83 » September 15th, 2019, 10:34 pm

Okay, so somehow my sim child got a genie lamp. I'm thinking it was from a Mausoleum visit. I've only ever done wishes with older sims (adult or YA, elder) and only a couple of times as I don't really play with Supernatural things. Anyway, I was just messing around and had the child ask for a longer lifespan. Oops! :-o The genie granted his wish and suddenly his child life span, which in my games is 125 days, became twice that and now his childhood will last 250! He's a twin and I really don't want them aging so differently. I especially don't want a kid for 250 Sim days! I was thinking it would just add them on at the end of his life or something and it was the first time I'd wished this particular wish for any sim.

Okay, simple enough, I hadn't played long or done much at this point so I figure I just close out and replay the game and delete the genie lamp via MC or just wish for something less game changing. Alas, no such luck.... I must have hit the regular save button by accident or something because it just went right to saving instead of closing out and I didn't get asked if I want to copy over the original file. grrrrr!

Anyway, I tried to figure out how to fix him so he only has 125 days of childhood but nothing worked so I just used "Age Absolute" and made it so he would age up in the same number of days as his twin. I figure it's the same difference, unless this wish changed all of his life spans or something! Either way, does anyone know a way to reverse this other than what I did? And did the genie increase all his life stages or was it just his childhood?

Click on the sim Nraas>MC>Advanced>Traits>Change and look for the Wished For Long Life hidden trait and remove it. Or you could go back to a save from before the wish was made as you lost one wish.
And yes it changed all his life stages as the wish effectively doubles the life span of all age stages plus the hidden trait it has is inheritable meaning his children will also inherit the double life span.

And I just noticed you said you couldn't go back to a previous save :|

you lost one wish.
Would it be possible to add the hidden trait for another wish to make up for that?

I've never tried but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Yeah, the next good save would have been too far back and I'd loose a couple of newborns and some aged up outfit fixes. I save every hour and the one that got saved over was from the previous hour and I'd been playing for a little over 2. Thanks for the info though, very helpful and I did figure it was going to mess with all of his life stages.
