No Emigration option with SP Population

Post by indignantgirl » September 7th, 2019, 11:35 pm

I just posted a question a couple of days ago but I thought I should start a new thread since it's a different topic. Hopefully this isn't cluttering the board.

I've installed Population but for the life of me I can't find the Emigration Ratio option. I'm sure it's just me not looking in the right place. I use many nraas mods and they are all really intuitive, so it's crazy that this one tiny add-on is kicking my butt. I cleared the cache folders and all that when installing it, and when I couldn't find it I re-downloaded and reinstalled it just in case. Still nothing. I'm totally lost, so I'm stopping to ask for directions. Thanks!

No Emigration option with SP Population

Just to confirm that we are talking about the same option, the one you are looking for is on City Hall or an in-game computer,
NRaas > SP > General Options > Options: Lots > Options: Immigration/Emigration > Emigration Ratio?

If the one you are looking for is under Household Options, to be set on an individual household basis, that one won't show if the overall Ratio in General is still 0.

Perhaps a silly question, but is SP's version of progression active and in control?
NRaas > SP > General Options > Enable Progression > True

Every once in a while we find that an SP feature is labeled incorrectly on its Interactions pages and what we thought required SP Population for example might instead or also have required a different one. Since sims cannot go into debt without SP Money and the Emigration Ratio is a debt ratio, I am led to believe that SP Money is also required. Another contender would be SP Extra, but I don't think that one has been reported to us here. Are either or both of those in play?

Ah, so there are two different options. See? That's how lost I was. Okay, I do see the City Hall option but not the Household option. Do I need to change the City Hall emigration ratio to something else (besides 0) to be able to see the Household option? If so, what setting do you suggest? I'm just wanting to run specific households out of town, but in a way I can pretend is organic even though it's entirely dictated by me. Is there a setting for that? XD

I do have SP enabled and Extra as well. I'm adding Money now, in case there's something in there that will help with this emigration ratio thing. Thanks!

The setting is a ratio of debt to net worth. I would suggest starting with a General Options setting of 100. It would be really difficult for a household to be that far in debt left to their own devices, we would actually call this level bankruptcy, so most likely no one is going to emigrate organically on their own because they will all have debt ratios way under the 100 threshold.

(Most of us would think that 1.00 would be suggested value, but that's not how the ratio is calculated and compared)

But that setting will unlock the Emigration debt ratio setting on the household level. If you set a particular household's ratio threshold to -1 (that's negative one), the household will be pushed to emigrate out of town at the next available opportunity because even with no debt, it would be impossible for them to achieve a ratio lower than that as ratios cannot be negative numbers.

You can then expect a funny message from those you are kicking out of your game, as they say toodle loo from the outskirts of town.

I thought this one was funny because my instance of Bridgeport is hardly what one would call a small town, so the snark level was definitely noted. It was around 8 pm on a typical Saturday evening when this happened.

Thank you! This is going to be fantastic! Sunset Valley is about maxed out in this save--especially since I imported my main family of 7 and 20 of their closest friends from Appaloosa Plains. I've been playing this save forever and I want to keep it going as long as possible, which means making some hard choices about who to ixnay.

I went ahead and installed the Money add-on. The town went nuts! Everybody buying up cars and selling off their stuff and buying into rabbitholes AND buying up homes (as rentals?) I had set aside for my families. I took back the homes because I need them, but what an exciting time for my sims!

Oh, and one guy ended up shelling out 1000 bucks for child support! Poor guy. They aren't even his babies. They are the children of Future Him. A future branch of this save got off track but I brought the babies back in time for storytelling purposes. I took him off the family tree and everything, but I can't outwit the game, it seems. He hasn't even met the moms of these babies in this timeline and he's shelling out a fortune. Man, that's some funny stuff.

Bingo! I changed the settings for 2 households and one is already gone. "We're going to miss what's-her-name." XD The other family, I guess they'll be gone in a day or so. Unless there's anything else that would keep SP from emigrating them? I left the "check relationships before emigrating" thing on false.

Child support guy is in jail for not paying. I guess I should change some setting so he's not held accountable. Or emigrate him. :D

Thank you for everything!
