And here I thought I was being helpful, but judging from the reaction button I have made you unhappy...do you have an aversion to TS3 store sets?
I'd be upset, too, if the thing that I'd like to get, would have to be purchased and installed separately. But Dragon Valley is a really good town. It's a wonderful world without unpleasant surprises, besides the attached content perfectly brightens up the everyday life of the characters. Unlike Midnight Hollow, which I have been trying to fix without success, it didn't disappoint me.

Okay, I guess those careers might be worth of playing once or twice. I could give some singer or a magician a chance. Thanks all for the tips!
Glad we could help out Kukko!
I've now got a magician in a spare branch of my family that's performing for tips around town and advancing in his career w/o any intervention from me, which I wasn't expecting at all. It's quite the show since he's also an active ghost that died by electrocution!

As for store items, can you no longer farm sim points on the TS3 site by watching ads? I've bought very few over the years for real money, but eventually managed to get everything from the store by farming points and making sure to get the best deals in the optimal order (cascades, daily deals, sales, MMAO)

It's been a while though, about 4 years or so since I finished, so things might not work as well now I guess.

WoolySmurf - The Points for Viewing Ads feature broke down around two or three years ago and EA pulled it completely off the table after a while. Whether this was planned to happen at that time or not remains unknown, but we don't think it was ever meant to be a permanent feature.

There is also a forum that keeps track of the Daily Deals. The Sims 3 Store Daily Deal offers a selected store item at a discounted price for one, two or three hours. Many of the items are discounted at 75% off or more. I help post the deals each day. https://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discus ... es-help/p1

This page also has links to help you get the most bang for your simpoints. They are a really friendly group of people who are really helpful. The Duke of Bows Renaissance Faire is on there three times with the highest discount being 63% off. This set includes the violin and archers gauntlet.

But if you have no interest in any of that, you could purchase a 1,000 store point bundle from Origin.com and use that to get the standalone violin item with 177 points to spare. ... The store carries a lot of redesigned items like clothes and furniture sets that some like while others deem as not really necessary, but the store worlds and many of the premium items that add to our gameplay options can be great fun to have.
Since we are talking about Origin and Store Content here, I got excited to have a peek... followed by a stupid question of how to purchase SimPoints? Origin is complaining about my lack of TS3 Starter Pack? I don't have Steam, but I do have TS3 installed so what's the deal here?

EDIT: Okay, never mind. Apparently it worked anyway.

It all works fine with Steam installs provided that your game is registered with the store (or Origin.com).
I must be doing something wrong then. I went to the store and registered all of the EP's I have. I ended up getting a few free downloads of things. So I downloaded a few of them, mainly any that gave me more hairstyles or clothing, a few of them I don't care about. I also now have 2000 sim points.
So I went ahead and got Origin downloaded and signed up thru my EA acct. I went back to the store, but when I went to download DV it sent me to Origin and then said I have to pay $19.99. so does this mean it cost the money PLUS the sim points? Also, now that I have Origin it downloaded my Sims3 game to the system. When I clicked the icon of Sims 3 while in Origin it gives me the option to "download" which I thought it already did, but maybe it just found the game and put it there? What happens if I click download? Will that mess up my Steam stuff? Will it then be available on Steam AND on Origin? I'm sorry if I seem really stupid here. I kind of am when it comes to all of this.
So I can go ahead and buy the world (eventually) but when I do that and it puts it no thru Origin, will it also add it to my Steam game? I'm more confused now than ever. Not in a panicky way, just, oh well...find out what to do an do it later kind of way. :|

No you can't use Sim Points to get Dragon Valley. I would get the Gold Version that will give you an additional 1900 Sim Points and Celtic Lands and you can use those Sims Points you get from the Gold Version to get the Duke of the Bows Renaissance Faire which when installed will unlock the Black Dragon.

As for the Origin and Steam thing I'll have to leave that to igazor,

First of all, you do NOT need the Origin client program unless you wish to run a different EA game that way. You can use Origin.com (look carefully at what I am saying, dot-com, the Origin website) to manage your Origin purchases. I do have Origin installed somewhere, I know it's on my Mac, but it has no presence on the Windows side of things where I play TS3. And no, you do not want or need an Origin installed TS3 game on the same machine as a Steam installed TS3 game. That will only lead to problems. Honestly, if you have no other EA games on your radar I would uninstall Origin entirely. If you want to have TS4 or some other EA game with an actual Origin requirement too then that's fine but then you have to tell it to not install TS3.

If you try to login on the origin.com website and you have the Origin client program installed, I think the program will launch for you. For some of us that's more annoying than it is helpful.

When you make a store purchase through Origin (the client app or the website) such as bundles of store points or a world such as Dragon Valley, that's just to handle the cash/credit card transaction. Origin does not give you points, the store does, and Origin does not give you Dragon Valley. The store does. Origin (origin.com) in these cases is merely acting as a purchasing agent. You do, however, need to be accessing accounts with the same name on the store and Origin (Origin.com) so that things stay linked together.

The Origin application delivers and controls base games and Expansion/Stuff Packs. Not store worlds or other forms of store content, it sells them and you pick up your purchases at the store site.

I'm refreshing the original point of my thread - further advice appreciated:
Currently, I'm testing out Aurora Skies that I just purchased (mainly for the hot-air balloons, but I'm from Scandinavia so also for the atmosphere) and as promised, am trying to give one singer-to-be a chance. However, even if I located this Proprietor, talking to her won't give any option for starting on the Singer career? My sim haven't had luck in her search for it through newspaper or computer, either, but shouldn't the Proprietor unlock this career, if I understood correctly?

Also, if any of you guys are playing Aurora Skies, pros and cons are welcomed.
