Married Sims living apart won't move in together.
For example: I recently had a couple in my town get married. The husband has two teenage sons living with him. The four of them moved into a small one-bedroom cottage at the beach, when there was enough room (and beds) for all of them at his old house! Why didn't she just move in with her husband and step-sons? Ugh!

I didn't think the Broken Home setting to False would make a difference because I don't allow broken homes.. such as divorce or move because of not liking a family/house member. I could change that setting and see what happens. I also got fed up with townies moving all over the place so I set the move limit to 118 hours between moves. I figure if one got married and moved in with the spouse, that would be the first move and then they would have to wait before moving again.
And as for the cheap housing I didn't think it would matter if the houses were more expensive because A) I don't want them buying another house, just move into one or the others household and B) I have stranded couple amount set to $150,000 and free real estate enabled so they should have enough money to move anywhere.

Sorry to resurrect a dead thread, but I think I figured this out!!!
I would like to expand upon Tangie's point that she usually has this problem in households where multiple Sims reside. All of a sudden I remembered that one time, I did have a husband move into his wife's household. Both of them lived alone. He was much richer than she was, being a rock star and all, so I moved them back into his mansion. Other than that, in all situations since then when I am trying to get one sim to move in with the other, they have both lived with multiple other people.
I think that explains why some of us have this issue and some of us don't. Some of us probably just have more sims living alone. I personally don't like to have many sims living alone, which could explain why I have this issue so much.
@MoMoll, do you have a lot of sims living together or alone? When your married sims combined households, did one or both of them previously live alone?
