Nraas - can you download previous versions?

Post by xxMika » August 14th, 2019, 12:06 pm

Hi!

I'm not sure if this is a right way to ask for help but at the worst scenario, I'm gonna be yelled at. I've never used mods in my life and I've been playing Sims 3 for... well, quite a long time. The thing is I had a recent reinstallation on my computer because my game was a mess, slow and annoying, probably because of the updated version. Anyway, I decided to download NRAAS because my cities are literally dying out but the latest version of my game is 1.54, the one that came with Island Paradise, and I don't want to update it because I'm scared it will break down again, it's working so well right now. Can you tell me if there is any chance to download the previous versions of this mod? I suppose not but it doesn't hurt to ask and I literally couldn't find similar topic on this side so I created an account and I'm asking.

I would be grateful for any response.

Mika

Hi there. No one is going to yell at anyone here, and especially not for asking a question politely, but I'm afraid the answer might potentially be less than pleasing at first. We do not have the prior versions of the mods available and there are no plans to restore them due to capacity issues and our lack of ability to provide support for them at this time. A lot of code was changed and added to most of the mods since 1.54 and only the current versions reflect those changes.

I take it this is now an all retail disc install? The recommendation then is to use EA's SuperPatcher, not the Launcher, to bring the game up to Patch 1.67 so as to get EA's final rounds of bug fixes in play and to be able to use currently supported mods -- not only from NRaas, but anywhere TS3 mods and their support are provided. This is not the Origin infested patch that annoys so many players on Windows (that's 1.69) and the game files themselves between the two patch levels are the same except for their internal build numbers.

Should you choose to go this route so that you can enjoy the mods, be aware that Core Mods in particular do have to match patch levels to avoid an error warning on startup. The only mod from here that applies to is ErrorTrap and we have a Patch 1.67 variant available specifically for that. The other mods are not Core Mods (except for UntranslatedKey, but that's really for developers) and are fine on both current patch levels.

Sounds like I've already won you over to the idea of getting more current, but just to add to this as I forgot to look up the patch numbers first. Patch 1.54 was never a "valid" patch level. That's the one that shipped with the IP retail store discs, but EA released 1.55 at just about the same time. So no mod developers anywhere, including here at NRaas, would ever have had a chance to produce and test mods for 1.54; some semblance of patching higher would have been required regardless. Although not relevant to your current install, the same thing happened when ITF was released -- it shipped with Patch 1.62 for which no mods were ever made anywhere as the officially released patch level then was really 1.63.
