Commanding Roommates?

Post by Nomiko13 » August 13th, 2019, 10:50 pm

Is there a way to command dormitory roommates to, let's say, taking care of their basic needs? The roommates at uni just stand around in their stench and pass out. I have to make my sim cook or order pizza so they don't die of starvation.
I don't mean controlling them as if they're a part of your household but having an interaction bubble available to command them to eat/sleep/bathe. Or perhaps if there's a feature on Mastercontroller?

It is widely known that inactive sims' autonomy in Uni World is horrible, whether that was done on purpose or not would be up to EA to answer (not that any of the game's developers are going to, so this is kind of lost to history by now). No, there is no way to issue commands to inactive NPCs. There are some ways to work around this, how satisfying each one is would be up to the player.

-- Try to feed and take care of your roommates as if they were stubborn little children. My sims can help them take care of their basic needs one way or another, but getting them to study if they aren't interested so that they then don't begin moping all over the place about failing grades can be seriously difficult. And all of this effort of course takes focus away from our sims' own studies.
-- There is a simple way to get them to bathe if you have Generations, it's called shower woohoo. But you kind of have to get to know them really well first and depending on other factors there may be social repercussions. :)
-- Use MC Cheats to periodically Max Motives on them or use SP in Uni World and Static their needs (SP Extra module required to do this selectively by motive).
-- Don't live in the dorms or frat/sorority houses, try off campus housing instead; moronic roommates there are optional. This one many of us see as realistic and a lesson we learned in real life as we progressed through some version of Uni ourselves.
-- Don't play in Uni World and try a Homeworld University instead. (Careers mod required)

I don't have a University, however the description gives the impression that sims behave as if they don't feel at home. I'd try to rebuild the dorm. For example, the hydromassage bath attracts the attention of the characters much more effectively. Of course, this item in the dorm may look like an inappropriate luxury, but if anything, there is still an option to try to install a public shower, which is the content of the store. As for the food, I'm not sure. If the dorm is the type of lot where public objects are available, try putting a picnic table somewhere. From build mode, not buy. Sims will have picnics and will not be hungry. But in my game, truth be told, they did it so often that I turned off autonomy because I was afraid they would get fat. About sleep: I observed, that for some sims far more attractive sleeping bags, than normal bed. Maybe you'll find a better solution, because it's gonna look even weirder than a hydromassage bath... But I'd get rid of the coffee machine, because it often causes insomnia.

Igazor,
Thanks again! To deal with it for the time being, I've been right clicking the mailbox and choosing "Make All Happy". But I'm most certainly will look into SP Extra module.

Sara_Darkees,
Thanks for the suggestions!

Update: Downloaded the Extra module and figured out how to, thanks to y'all. I made hunger, hygiene, and bladder static. I appreciate the help!
