GoHere Door Filters Not Working Randomly

Post by enable_llamas » August 12th, 2019, 2:39 pm

I was playing a save where all the doors to the outside have my custom "No Paparazzi scum" filter, to - you guessed it - keep the pests from waltzing in as they please. Last time I threw a party and in the middle of it no less than 4 paps showed up and invited themselves inside. Checked the doors, filters were still enabled. Could the party scenario be to blame somehow? I think one managed to get inside even before that had started, tho... Or the door setup? The house has 2 single doors in the front (to make a double door) but just one is set and shows up as a front door. Backside has an arch that is also locked like that. They've managed to go through either. Any ideas?

Has this ever worked? The party declaration is probably helping them do this, but I thought the Paparazzi were like the Grim Reaper, the Social Workers, the Repo Sims, etc. in that when the game pushes them to, they have special powers that can in some situations enable them to walk through any door no matter how it is locked. Unlike the other special sims, they don't routinely do this on home lots so not every player sees it or at least not very often.

If you enable Debugging and go to Door Options Reload Cache does it work afterwards?
I have a lot of Script Mods in my game and for some reason it causes Go Here to bug out at Startup. I always have to wait until all my Mods are loaded and then Reload the Cache manually and then all my filters work. If I don't do this they never work even if the Cache is refreshed later anyway.. no idea why but I have to do this everytime I load a save.
I have never tried it on papparazzi though so they might simply not work..

KittyTheSnowCat - Just checking here to get a better understanding. If you do not Reload Cache is it that the door filters do not appear on the doors, or they do appear but just do not function?

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try that next time. Any idea which mods mess with it, cause I have lots too?

Otherwise I thought the anti-pap filter worked up to a point because in the week before that they came to the house but always hung out on the back or front porch, never got inside. Before setting it they always came in through the arch in the back and sometimes would even eat my food or start on my bar drinks, the bastards.

Edit: Forgot to mention during the party they seemed especially mod-resistant - I usually drop a MC "go home" on them when they start getting on my nerves, which sometimes works only on the second try. Those bastards did not budge even after 5 or 6 attempts and the only way to get rid of them (short of murder) was a MC reset...

Ok so this doesn't apply to the paps but by default Role Sims with role giving objects ignore all the options because this can cause lag when they keep trying to ram themselves through doors to perform their role. There's a setting under Global Door Options on city hall / computer if you want to change this behavior but I recommend not locking them out.

For paps it's possible you're suffering from the cache issue. You can click the door and List Sims Denied Access... if the paps don't show up there, the filter is broken and you should try to rebuild the cache. The party situation should not matter.

The door filters are listed but empty.>When I click Sims allowed through or not depending what kind of door there is noone in that list until I rebuild the Cache.

Thank you, Chain :) I'll go back the save right before to test it out. I'm not gonna fiddle with the Global Door Options and I don't think I've ever locked out any role sims aside from the pests.

Just dropping by to say that it was, in fact, the Cache issue and the suggested method fixed it. :) Now all works nicely. Thanks!

Reload the Cache manually and then all my filters work
I just tried to set some Doorfilters again in my game only on community lots and have the same issue:
The filter is still set after loading save game, but is not working anymore, kind of ignored. I excuded all baby to teens, but now they can enter, even the filter is still shown.

So how did you clean the Cache?
Is there another way to make them load correctly?
