Script Error - Sims are deleted

Post by PotatoGoddess » August 7th, 2019, 2:59 pm

I tried to get on my Sims 3 save file today and I had an issue where the UI wasn't functioning properly (you couldn't click anything on it, you couldn't expand to see the moods, inventory, etc; the squares for the character portraits were gone; the panels were empty; household funds were at 0). To remedy this, I switched households and then switched back. (When switching to the other household, the game worked fine, aside from my original household who was still stuck) This fixed the UI issue, however, my Sims were still stuck in their last assigned task (one is reading, the other is sleeping) and even though the squares for their portraits were back, they didn't have the portraits. I tried resetting them, but no luck.

My game has never had any mods on, but it does have every expansion/stuff pack active. I installed my first two mods, ErrorTrap and Overwatch in hopes they would help. I also have the NoIntro mod installed for the sake of testing the other mods to work.

ErrorTrap fixed my UI issue without having to switch households, and fixed the part with the sim portraits on the side of the screen. I don't know if it fixed my sims from being unstuck since the moment I allow time to run, my household all spawns on the porch and then deletes. It then gives me a script error for each sim in my household.

I've tried to do all that I can to fix my save and read many other posts and situations. If any help can be provided, I would appreciate it. Even if it is to scratch out this household and move on.

Thanks!

(Let me know if you cannot access the files - I'm not 100% sure I gave enough access via Google Drive)

I believe the solution to that one in the past has been to move the household to a new lot which should terminate the broken party then you should be able to move back. Switching the active household for a few days until the party terminates might help too.

Hi there. There's a number of things going wrong, but one recurring theme is that there is a party scenario that is supposed to be running on an inactive residence (not the actively played sim households) that is stuck and broken. ErrorTrap is also reporting on sims with broken relationships, traits that are not defined, and a few other things...I stopped when I got to the active household's cat doesn't have access to their smartphone (?!).

I think ErrorTrap and Overwatch may have been added a bit too late to really be helpful here. The broken "NPC party" scenario is not uncommon and can be a pain to work through, but these other symptoms suggest sim and game save corruption and seem more concerning to me even though either way the game must be unplayable at that point. Do you have any saves from a prior point in time to which you can revert and replay things, but with the mods in place earlier on? I would also, again at a much earlier point than this, suggest having MasterController in place and run a Reset Everything from the Town menu on City Hall.

Our developer should also look at these logs when he catches up to us, quite possibly he will see something that I am missing and that can be tried here if reverting gameplay is not an option.

Moving the household to a new lot and then back seemed to have done the trick. I did switch active households for a few days as well just to be sure. I restarted the game to make sure the fix was permanent and it seems to be!

Thank you for your help! I was ready to just move on to a new household since I had no backup saves.
