I'm Not Getting Prompted to Rename Sims After Divorce

Post by Theapoo2 » August 3rd, 2019, 1:20 am

I'm just wondering, does anyone else have the SP setting "Rename Sims After Divorce" set to true, and if so, does that setting work for you? I have it set to true in my game, but yet I'm not getting prompted to rename my Sims when they divorce.

I also don't get notified of the divorce in the story summaries that I get, even though I got notified of everything else. Getting prompted to rename was the main way I knew which couples had divorced. So without that setting working, I often have no idea that a couple has divorced. And I'm one of those control-freak Simmers who needs to know what all the Sims in the town are doing. :P

Most recently, I had a married couple move in together after being stranded for a long time. The wife had two toddlers, one by her current husband and one by her previous boyfriend. I was checking out what the inactive Sims in town were doing when I saw that both the toddlers were sad for some reason. I used MC to find out what their moodlets were, and they both had the "Heartwrenching Scene" moodlet. I know that moodlet usually comes from witnessing a divorce, so I checked to see if the parents were still married, and lo and behold, they had divorced. That was how I found out.

I remember that this setting used to work for me a long time ago, because I remember that there was a time that I was getting prompted to rename divorced Sims. But that was a really long time ago. Maybe when I installed a newer version of SP a while back, that changed something.

Just an aside: I also have "rename newborns" or something like that set to true. And usually that setting works--I've named almost all of the children born in my town. I *think* the only exceptions are a set of twins that have names that I didn't give them. I don't think it's happened before that, and I don't think it's happened since either. It's not a big deal because I could easily rename them using MC if I didn't like the names, but I've always wondered about that.

Hello from a fellow control-freak Simmer!
(We should have a conference and talk about the best townies control techniques.)

As far as renaming divorcé.e.s and newborns, everything works fine in my game.

Have you downloaded new mods from NRaas recently?

I ask because one time, I had downloaded additional modules for SP and completely forgot that my SP base mod was out of date of several years.

Hi Theapoo2,
I don't know why you are not getting the prompt to rename divorced sims anymore, but you need SP Relationship Mod for it.
General Options > Options: Romance and
Rename Sims After Divorce TRUE
Maybe check this one too, perhaps you don't have it on ALL at the moment? Stories
Determines which sims you will receive notice regarding marriage - Default: All

In addition like you did, you can save your search : Go to - Residents - Has moodlet "Heartwrenching Scene"
Save your Filter via MC / Settings, create your search, so you can use it faster
A lot of options you can also put in the Top Menu via MC / Settings / Hot Keys
Allows the user to specify which interactions are to be shown directly under the "NRaas" menu

I constantly use many Hot Keys in the top menu and my various saved filters like to go to / my search filter/ and it saves a lot of time ;-)
Claudy ;-) Bookworm, Cat Person, Computer Whiz, Couch Potato, Eco-Friendly, Friendly, Frugal, Genius, Nurturing, Social butterfly, Supernatural fan, Virtuoso in the past, Workaholic, Brooding, No Sense of Humor

I haven't tried the saved filters and hot keys yet! This is so helpful and insightful, thank you C-Dark!
