Is it safe to disable the celebrity system once my active household sims have a celebrity star? And if so, what happens to the three papparazzi already spawned?
Same for the already spawned occults---if I turn occults off in game and remove the status from the existing ones is that safe?
I just started a new Farmacy game and these aren't really allowed in game.

Paparazzi will hang around the town, even if there are no celebrities. They can be eliminated by using Register. But don't worry, only the roles will be eliminated, the characters will continue to exist. Also in my game when I disabled the occult with the vampire-npc nothing happened.

Thanks Sara! I may give it a try and save before I do, of course. Just in case.

Just to add, if I may, if you disable the Celebrity system entirely while some sims already have celeb stars or progress made towards some, their status in that regard will freeze where it is. If one is trying to remove all elements of the celeb system, then MC Cheats could be used to remove any existing stars (levels) and points towards next ones. Note those are two different commands, one for levels and one for points.

Thanks Igazor! I haven't even dared do it yet so that info is very helpful. And my Founders' spoiled rich city girl traits would love being a celebrity, just not sure I want the hastle if she ever becomes one! The oddest thing was that I allowed occults too, and all 3 of the papparazzi are fairies! One of them is even a fairy/mermaid/vampire hybrid and another a fairy/witch. I obviously played around with the occult settings a bit much. And most of the service sims are fairies too, the consignment specialist and festival booth tendees. Although, I don't consider that quite a bad thing as having the longer life will prevent the stuck aging scenario from repeating so often. So now I'm torn between keeping occults and celebs and not. And I thought I set immigration to NOT choose from my bin sism, but it did a lot. Names and skin color. Not a big deal really, just another caution for playing around with settings!

We all interact with these game features a bit differently. There are two extreme (to me) annoyances coming from the Celebrity system. One is that when I really want/need to socialize with a sim, sometimes my sims can't because they don't have enough pizzazz or whatever to impress the intended target. I see that as part of the game though, so it's not a deal breaker, I just don't like it when the blockage takes me by surprise or shows up on for example uncles/nephews or grandparents living in their own household where I really don't think it should.
The other is almost a deal breaker though, and that's when 2 and higher star sims keep getting free stuff at cash registers because "Wow, we can't believe you came in here, have anything you want!" I'm very in tune (or try to be) with budgeting and finances in this game and while free drinks or snacks once in a while are fine, all the discounts for high level purchases and necessities like groceries and skill books just because my sims were friends with someone famous or hit a few skill gains are just silly. I finally have that one (mostly) solved by way of Retuner; can't seem to stop the discounts, but they are almost always around 1% off now which is trivial, so I can live with that.

Do you happen to remember which string is responsible for this? I suddenly decided to try to set foot on the red carpet of celebrities (okay, it's not me, my sims), but I don't want to drown forever in the simoleons, not being able to spend them.

Sara_Darkees - I'm going to look that up in-game before reporting back. Took a lot of trial, error, and setting things the way they looked they should be which was completely backwards and resulted in 99% celeb discounts all over the place before I got that right eventually.

You and me both! My Town Jump family including the family ghosts are all high level celebs, but each time we jump towns, it sets the active family's relationship with the inactive ghost family members back to 0! Very annoying to have to impress them and become friends all over again when they were best friends in the last town.
But what's worse is that they all do that 'eeewww, it's a ghost' hand waving thing when I'm trying to get pictures. The ghosts even do that with each other. For the most part, I've just made it part of the story, a prejudiced negative reaction that sims and ghosts have to overcome.
What really is funny is that my Gen 1 spouse was a coward when he was alive and death hasn't changed that. I think he even passes out more as a ghost seeing the other ghosts than when he was alive! And the founding male ghost, who is inappropriate and mean-spirited just laughs when he does it. I couldn't resist adding that to the story either.
