Would an NVMe SSD make a difference for Sims 3?

Post by Cororon » July 22nd, 2019, 7:26 am

I have a SATA SSD in my current PC and have bought one for my next PC, but I wonder if Sims 3 would benefit from an NVMe SSD?

The difference in speed is 550 MB/s for a SATA SSD and 3500 MB/s for an NVMe SSD, but I have looked at tests and the loading times for games have been the same for both types of SSD, so the more expensive NVMe SSD seems pointless for gaming... but I haven't seen tests with loading Sims 3. All the tests I've seen have been with games that only take about 20-30 seconds to load, but Sims 3 can take 5-13 minutes to load when you have a big world with lots of sims and CC. So I wonder if an NVM3 SSD could make a difference in this case?

As with other games the difference between an SSD and NVMe SSD with the Sims 3 is only a few nanoseconds.

Ok, that will save me lots of money. I'll use the SATA SSD. It's a Samsung 860 EVO 1 TB. :D
