Resource.cfg
Resource.cfg
Hi, I have a resource config question. When I look at it in note pad, what does Priority 501... Priority 500 ... Priority 499 .... Priority 498 mean? Do the numbers mean the game reads only that many mods at one time when loading? Or something different.

Something different. The Resource.cfg file determines the order in which content loads. That which has a higher priority rating loads later in the startup sequence. That's why, in the rare cases we are instructed to by developers, we are told to put certain files within Overrides rather than Packages so that the higher priority files overwrite the lower ones when two forms of content would otherwise conflict with each other.

Thanks igazor. I understand now

I have another question. What would happen if I increased the numbers such as the 501 to 999 and the 500 to 998 etc. would it cause a problem?

Should be fine though I'm not sure why you'd want to?

I’m a curious person and tend to change things I shouldn’t before I ask if it would cause a problem. This time I decided to ask first.

But the point is, what is it that you are trying to accomplish or fix by doing this? If you add precisely 498 to all of the priority levels, the game won't behave or startup any differently than it does with the default Resource.cfg values.
