Traveling triggers outfit bug

Post by doccykaaa » July 5th, 2019, 7:14 am

Dear Simmers,

A few months ago I posted a topic to the Traveler discussion, titled "Outfits get bugged upon traveling" where I explained a specific bug, causing me a big, unsolvable problem. Every time I travel, my sims get stuck in the outfit they arrived in. Every time I'm about to perform an interaction that includes changing, the interaction gets cancelled. Sleeping and showering works, but it happens without undressing.

The old topic got locked due to my old game version, which is incompatible with nRaas mods, but Chain_Reaction said I can ask for help when I've sorted things out. I've updated my game to 1.67, updated/deleted all my outdated mods. But this problem still exists in my game. I've managed to see what happens by enabling debug pop-ups, and got this message every time the bug happens:

Code: Select all

"SwitchOutfitHelper.Start:
SwitchOutfitHelper is Invalid!"
I also have nRaas dresser, and a few other mods, you can read all about it in the linked topic. If you have any idea what could cause the problem, please don't hesitate to tell me, I'm willing to try literally everything after months of struggling.

And to Chain_Reaction: I really didn't mean any offense in my previous topic AT ALL, sorry if I sent the wrong signals. :)

Thank you in advance!
PEACE

It's great that you have found a way to update to 1.67. But may I ask please if the Kinky mod is still in play or if you are working with saved ongoing games that have "seen" the Kinky mod and it has been removed?

Regardless, does the issue persist if you move or rename your game folder for safekeeping and test on a the fresh one that will spawn in its place, the Framework set up again, with a newly started test game and with nothing but the current versions of your NRaas mods in Mods\Packages? Since our users do not report this issue generally, the point here is to find a baseline where the problem does not show up and go from there.

Thank you for your answer!

What I've tried so far was just updating the game and see if it was a version incompatibility.

Now, I've got rid of the Kinky mod and I'm unable to use my phone and the travel option doesn't show up on my computer either. This is honestly the weirdest thing. The phone in the inventory says "No interactions available" when I try to click on it. So currently I can't travel and check if it was just KinkyWorld interfering with traveler.

What I would try next is, as you recommended, get rid of all my game files in Documents. My biggest concern is that I rely heavily on mods, I have quite a few, as I mentioned in my previous topic. But if it's the only way, then I'll try it for sure! :)

Do you know of any way I can check for any errors, incompatibilities and enable debug messages? Maybe even by using any nRaas mod. Can DebugEnabler help me sort this out?

Thank you!

What DebugEnabler does (mostly) is "enable" commands that EA's developers left in the game but with no other way to access by providing an interface to them. There is no automatic error catching routine for script mods other than running them to see what happens with tools like ErrorTrap and Selector in play.

Am not clear on something here. You have removed KW and outdated mods but are attempting to play a saved game froward that has had these mods in play? If I am understanding this correctly, there is a huge part of the problem. Can't speak for all mods from all other sources, but KW damages ongoing game saves and it has no functional removal mechanism. The way to have proceeded from there would have been to try starting a new game, one that had never "seen" KW and other outdated mods, to see what happens generally and with phone/travel interactions if you hadn't already done that.

If a brand new test game still misbehaves, then we move on to trying again on a clean, freshly spawned game folder. You don't have to delete and lose track of all of your mods and other content, they would stay safe in the pulled out or renamed game folder and can be added back in (best not all at once, though) if we can get a baseline game folder and fresh test game to work properly first.

Oh, I see, I wasn't completely aware of the purpose of DebugEnabler. I am now! :)

Anyways, I tried what you recommended. First, I started a new world, new household, then traveled. Everything worked as it was supposed to.

Then, just to see what happens, I loaded the save which was infected by KW and started a new household there. Thankfully, everything worked fine this way too, including traveling. That makes me very happy, because I'm playing a downloaded world of Los Angeles (called Los Aniegos) and I've spent lots of hours of work adjusting the world to my preferences.

Seems like this problem is solved, for now. Thank you for the help! :D

I would be concerned that the now inactive sims in the world you are playing forward might continue to have damaged traits, skills, and genealogy, but not so much that the world itself as you have redesigned it is diseased in any way. The other sims in town may at some point start behaving erratically or kicking up errors. If this happens, you may need to consider getting rid of them or at least replacing them with fresh CAS copies of themselves.

But in any event, am glad to hear that your game is on its way to recovery. :)
