Sometimes when I've been building or decorating the game seems to crash. I click on Build or Buy and it refuses to load. The cursor just rotates and rotates but nothing happens. I tried to go back to gameplay, and the button gave the click sound but still nothing happens. Is this a common problem? It doesn't happen very often, but it's annoying when I've spent an hour decorating without saving. The GUI looks like this, like parts of it are missing.

Build/Buy refuses to load?
Like Edit Town and entering CAS during gameplay, Build/Buy puts some stress on the game and increases RAM usage spend enough time in either of those it can cause that if not just out right make the game crash due running out of memory and exceeding the games RAM limit.
It's usually better to use those modes at the beginning of a game session.
And there are times where Build/Buy just bugs out. I've only had it happen 3 times 2 of which was because I had already been playing for 2 hrs and stayed in Build/Buy too long the other time no idea why it happened.

This sometimes happens to me, too. I've made a great habit of returning to play mode and saving regularly in the midst of doing some big changes, like building a house or furnishing. Luckily though, you can get back to the play mode via Edit Town when this crash happens, so you don't lose any game prior Buy/Build.

I wish there was a mod that could fix this. When you click on the button to enter Build or Buy you give the game a command, but for some reason the game stops responding. Maybe the mod could do some kind of reset and re-enter the command after 30-60 seconds if nothing happens.
@Kukko69, Hm, I shall try to click the (...) button the next time and see if I can go into Edit Town. Thanks for the tips!

If the (...) button doesn't let you click on it, the menu opens up by keyboard command (that I can't recall just now, but try various things). That way I've managed to get back in game and overcome the lag, although you do lose any edits made in Buy/Build.

Build/Buy refuses to load?
For me going back to Edit Town from Build/Buy mode sometimes freezes my game. So when I'm working on a large build I will set Saver to save every 10 to 15 rl minutes, since it will save without leaving Build/Buy mode. That way I never lose more than 15 minutes work. It has literally "saved my bacon" several times.Kukko69 wrote: ↑July 1st, 2019, 3:05 amThis sometimes happens to me, too. For the incomplete loading of Build/Buy mode, I usually wait several minutes, then back out using F1. If that doesn't work the only solution I know is using Task Manager to Force Kill the game session.

Build/Buy refuses to load?
There's not much mods can do I'm afraid. The game isn't responding because it's hit max memory and is now hopelessly broken at that point. I'd actually be surprised you could successfully save after that state.Cororon wrote: ↑July 1st, 2019, 7:21 amI wish there was a mod that could fix this. The memory used was only 2.88 GB. I checked it before I terminated the game in the Task Manager. :|So I guess the game just failed to load Build/Buy. So it's possible that a mod could fix this problem, but since it doesn't happen that often it would be difficult to reproduce it to test the mod. And it would have to be a core mod, right? I'm just trying to use common sense, since I don't know much about coding and creating mods.Chain_Reaction wrote: ↑July 2nd, 2019, 3:41 amThere's not much mods can do I'm afraid. If I remember correctly, I wanted to place some objects from Buy after I had placed buyable weeds from Build. I love these weeds, because they come in different shades and look like long grass. The last time the game stopped responding it was also after I had placed these weeds. Not sure if there is a connection, because most of the time there are no problems.

It happened again today.
I installed the game seven years ago on this PC and about two years ago I cloned the hard drive to an SSD. Maybe there's some corruption going on.

I have to say, I also use those weeds and once I added a bunch of them on the lot, this Buy/Build freeze happened.
