Sim-Drew and The Case of The Mysterious Bookcase

Literary reference aside, IDK what's up this time, but I've had a rather odd thing happen in a few of my Sims homes in a few of my games. Suddenly my bookshelves are getting insane loads of books put in them! First let me set the stage for you, perhaps something I do will be the culprit:
I do this thing for a few of my Sims where I send them to the book store to pick up one of every book (for those Sims who have the simoleans) Mainly it's just one of each skill book and child development book, but my bookworms can sometimes get one of every book you can buy in the bookstore.
Anyway, I often sort those books throughout a few bookcases in their home. For instance. The smaller bookcase near the Kitchen will have all the recipes and learn-to-cook books, along with gardening and Mixology. The main library ends up with all of the written books or stories they sell in the shop, like History of Socks or Where's Bella. Then some where I have all other skill books in one case and the bookcase nearest or in the kids rooms often get the child development and comic books.
Well, in the last couple of homes I was playing where I had done this, I open the shelf to find there is now 12 level 1 cook books, 6 level 1 Logic, 16 level 1 Handiness...etc. Not all of the books have increased in number, but many can have as many as 2 extra and some of my skill books can have 3-16 extra books. What's going on to cause this? I always rid my houses of extra copies of books, so it's not Sims moving them from shelf to shelf. Certainly I never have a house that would even have enough bookcases to even end up with so many of one kind! It's also never all of the books, but often seems to be mainly the level 1 skill books or when it's other books, it's those books that come with a standard bookshelf where I end up with multiple copies.

Yes, I always clear out a bookcase before sorting the books. So they are empty or cut down to only the books I plan on filling that case with.

I think I know what the reason might be. Sometimes, when switching between families or when resaving a house in the library, such objects are duplicated. I don't know if you've seen it or not, but someone's been complaining about a butterfly invasion. I have analogous problem in the refrigerator - suddenly emerging stocks tofu, hot-dogs, cabbage and other foodstuffs, and as a result, there are so many of them that I think I could feed all the starving children in Strangetown. From time to time, I just check the town and clean it. This also applies to the home lot.

The food in the fridge regenerating thing is a game glitch that the mere presence of SP is supposed to stop from happening.

On the books duplicating, it does sound like it's only the books that come free with bookshelves and that likely have no value. Most residential bookshelves come with some Level 1 skill books, I think there's three of them that are usually included for free and those might be the ones listed among the others. Perhaps this helps?

NRaas > SP > General Options > Options: Money > Options: Sales > Sell Duplicate Residential Books > True
(SP Money add-on module required)

That might be a pain if you really did want two or three of the same title on the bookshelves as maybe a large household might have two or more sims who could benefit from reading them at the same time, but in that case probably keep the spare(s) in sims' inventories.

I have, on occasion, allowed this for that very reason. Though it's generally just the skill books I leave with two. It works great for houses with multiple young sims who need to learn. I've had a few twin/triplet houses and they keep the multiple skill books, but never more than two of each book.

Thank you Igazor and Sara_Darkees. I was thinking it was something like that, especially since it was the books that come with the cases that are being duplicated. Odd that this never occurred before...or perhaps I just never noticed? And it does only seem to happen if I've been away from that household. I was hoping for a good fix, maybe the mod setting will work. But I suppose it isn't that hard to just do a search of the bookcases now and then and remove the extra. What I did in this instance was pull one book into a sims pocket then grab the rest as a set to sell and put the single book back.

I read about the butterfly invasion. I had that happen too and it was only those places where I'd placed the spawners myself, so I ended up just deleting nearly all the critter spawners in town except the ones in EA parks or fishing spots. (it never happens with fish spawner I've noticed) I also figured it would help with game performance not to have so many moving things generated and I don't do much with critters in my games so they are not missed.
