Can't get interaction menu on a specific sim when selecting another specific sim

Post by denoflions » June 17th, 2019, 5:50 pm

I've been having this issue for a day or so. I finally got around to installing Selector and it immediately revealed the error log of my problem.

One specific sim in my family cannot get the interaction menu when clicking his step-daughter. It throws the following error which appears to be something about Apologizing. Is there any way to reset the upset/apologize state with MC? Resetting them, the town, and even dumping them into a new test save via the bin didn't give me a menu.

Code: Select all

System.NullReferenceException: A null value was found where an object instance was required.

Hmm, seeing a lot of these odd social tuning errors. Is there a new mod or an update to one that's really broken floating around? What happens when you remove all mods but these and try?

I don't think I have any particularly odd mods or anything. I went ahead and removed anything that wasn't NRaas but the problem persists.

This doesn't seem like the probable cause given that Selector error, but have you tried emptying out the sims' personal inventories? We know that some items like jam jars from the TS3 store canning station and special seeds, for example, can still cause otherwise unexplained social interaction failures.

I gave it a try. The only thing I couldn't remove from their collective inventories was a police pager. The error persists the same as it was.

I've also noticed during my testing that the step-daughter in question throws that same error on her own randomly and Error Trap immediately resets her, so I'm guessing the problem is strictly in that sim and not both since I haven't observed any reset prone behavior from the step-dad.

If you also removed tuning mods then I'd have to say there's some relationship corruption then. You can install RelationshipPanel and then hold CTRL and click to delete the relationship from his panel. If that fixes the error, the relationship should respawn when they next talk to each other. You can reset levels and such with MasterController.

That did it! I didn't realize deleting a relationship was that simple. A few moments in MasterController to put them back at the level they were and all appears well now. Thank you gentlemen.
