I am still running into the same problem. I have a DxDiag but no idea how to attach to this website...

If you would like for us to be able to see your dxdiag report, you would need to send it up (copy/paste it in) to Pastebin.com (the free version is fine) and provide a link so we can read it. Either than or upload the file to an external file host and again provide a link that gives us access to it.

I posted on EA about the same problem.

Here is a link to that: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-3/Sim ... 70#M236477

DxDiag is attached to the first post.

Got it. You are definitely in excellent hands there and I would suggest following through with the support being offered while continuing to test play the game in SV and not a custom fixed world. I have to agree that OneDrive is a possible culprit even if you have never engaged with the service yourself, it is built into Win 10, and I also see the frequent OD service crashes that puzzlez mentions. Not sure if we've covered this, but I would also strongly suggest continuing these tests and playing offline, meaning not logged in at the Launcher and in-game levels and have the in-game TS3 store shopping experience switched off if you don't already do this. The online "features" of TS3 are known to add instability to the game.

The only thing I see not mentioned on your support thread there is that your version of Win 10 is two major updates ago but your Nvidia driver is current. This is the reverse of what one more typically sees when things go out of sync with device drivers. You may find that the more recent updates to Win 10 actually help by adding some stability to the system if you can manage to get those going. And it looks to me like Game Mode still needs to be deactivated, although I could be misinterpreting that part. On the current versions of Win 10 there are easy to use master on/off switches for this feature.

You also appear to be running Bitdefender as an anti-virus/malware program. I don't know if it's known to interfere with TS3 in any way or if any steps can be taken to prevent that, but it's worth asking puzzlez about that on the AHQ board. If you are not running Bitdefender, then something on your system is masquerading as that and would also be worth asking about. I do see some posts across the web about Bitdefender being blamed for sudden ramping up to 100% CPU usage in various circumstances, but don't know if that's relevant here.

I've only been on Win 10 for a short time myself and started out with a later release of its updates than you have, plus have gotten one major update a few weeks ago. My game is still perfectly stable thus far, as much so as TS3 can be anyway, but it's not running in the same environment as your laptop. So while I certainly cannot claim that all players on Win 10 everywhere with suitable hardware should have pristine experiences with TS3, thus far I'm just not seeing the issues that others might be.

Is your laptop using an MSI Motherboard? Some MSI Motherboards need a BIOS update to go beyond 1803. Although I wouldn't recommend updating the BIOS that can be very tricky to do. And if not done right it'll brick your computer.

@sittingbear How will I know if it is a MSI motherboard? WIll it be in PC properties?

@igazor I will try to update windows 10, and Bitdefender is on 'Auto' so that is probably why it does sometimes affect my computer, I'm guessing it does automatic scans in the background. I noticed it being a factor sometimes when my disk spikes to 100%. I think I started to turn off Game mode but ran into confusing instructions online. I think Windows 10 updated how it was able to disable it so I have to look up a more recent way to turn it off. I always play in 'offline' mode.

You need to get to your Administrative Tools.
Click on the Windows Icon to get to your Start Menu look for Windows Administrative Tools and then System Information.
Or go to your Control Panel look for Administrative Tools and then System Information.

Look for Baseboard Manufacturer that'll give the name of company.
And Baseboard Product wil be the motherboard.

Updating Windows 10 and turning off Gaming Mode didn't change the game closing out (barely a minute into gameplay). Are there any other steps I can take to fixing the problem? I can no longer play Sims 3 at this point. The more I try to start up the game, the faster it closes to desktop after freezing for a few seconds.

Manufacturer was CFL
Don't know anything about those other than the desktop versions had a somewhat rocky launch but things got smoothed out later.
