Igazor Needs Some Help!

No, not mod help it's more like creator's block, but thanks for looking so worried when you saw the subject line. :)

I haven't had the time or inclination to move my game forward in many months and am just now getting back into it. This happens in cycles, again nothing to worry about. But anyway, I've just placed the roller coaster boardwalk lot for the first time together with what will be restricted access to two basement levels as has been on my To Do list for ages. The thing is, I can't seem to remember what I really had in mind for much of this lot, besides of course having fun with the roller coasters themselves.

-- What in the world is the interior room with the dozens of little toys on the various counters supposed to be for? Does anyone find that children or sims with the Childish trait actually get drawn in there to play with the toys? If I wanted a toy shop I would have built one already, but I don't want to ruin my sims' day if they actually like that one as it comes.

-- I need some better food/snack choices for this lot, the fire pits and most of the bbqs had to go. I've placed a couple of festival lot food booths for now, turned an interior bar into a LN Pro bar, and added a coffee barista but I have those last two all over town already and I expect the festival booths won't be open very late when they actually get staffed. I could just place things like popcorn and snow cone machines all over the place and say that unlimited snacks are included in the §75 admission fee to get inside the lot (by way of GoHere), and maybe some vending machines or Cupcake displays. But I've done that already on many other lots too. Am I missing some good festive ideas for amusement park concessions, aka junk food?

-- I can't remember what I was really planning for the restricted access basements. This lot is huge, so there's acres of space down there. So far I've put down bowling lanes and may later add table tennis and pool tables; the pool table up on the ground level got replaced by skee ball. I think originally what I really had in mind was an underground dance club with a very adult section on the lowest level for all kinds of red light types of activities, but this is Bridgeport and there's plenty of that to be had in town elsewhere. And the kids in town, a fast growing demographic, aren't going to get any use out of things like that until they are much older. Should I just place wall to wall hot tubs, maybe some zen massage tables with pink mood lights, and call it a night? Do I want an underground casino? A "secret" by invitation only internet cafe or yikes, a range of comic book stores for the truly rebellious? I feel like there is some underground suitable vice or hobby I am just forgetting to take into account here.

I didn't look worried, I looked shocked, then hurried over here to see if I could be of any help to the master helper.

As far as junk food, the ice cream maker and the deep fryer are pretty cool. If you have them both you can make fried ice cream!

The only thing I can think of for the basement that you haven't mentioned yet is an arcade with the old fashioned video games.

In my game sims didn't have the ability to use toys if they were placed on similar surfaces. However, if I'm wrong and they can take them, soon this room will be a mess - children will scatter toys everywhere. I stick to the version that it is an imitation of the store, which just needs to be and that's it. For true entertainment I'd probably prefer larger objects that have always remained in their places.

I don't have a very clear idea about this, because I have not seen the lot itself, and even more its restructuring, but maybe you should try to allocate a corner and build a small cafe in the open air? With a stove and a cook or something. If I'm not mistaken, visitors will have to pay for it.

I liked the idea with the old fashioned video games proposed by ZeeGee. However, for some reason I think that under the ground there should be a little mystical and gloomy atmosphere, opposite to that above the ground. I'd put old-fashioned and magical things in there. Why not?

I had thought of the ice cream makers and fryers, but to me those are kitchen appliances that at least some sims already have in their own homes. Plus they seem a bit too "prepare it yourself" for this kind of lot. I know that Arsil has a modded staffed ice cream stand, but from what I recall only the actively played sims are able to order from it (that might not be true for everyone). This might be a good opportunity to bring out Chain's modded ice cream carts, haven't used those for a while.

I like the idea of a bistro. What I might do though is experiment with a diner rabbithole on the lot with icarus' Eat Outside mod at least during the warmer months and see about restricting the menu to festive and junk food then fall back on the waiter/chef bistro if that doesn't quite work out. I already have such a structure going in Bridgeport but not for the diner and the regular restaurant serves much more upscale food, so this at least would have a very different menu and atmosphere to it.

There is already an arcade game area above ground with old fashioned pinball, video games, and now skee ball so I really didn't want sims to have to pay more to get into a restricted area below ground that offers the same kind of entertainment. Hence the bowling lanes, and perhaps table tennis and pool tables -- almost no one has those at home in this world. I'll have to think about gloomy and magical for the lower floor. Like cauldrons, spell books, fortune telling, maybe a second smaller branch of the elixir consignment shop? Perhaps it should be haunted, pay a fee and get to chat with some ghosts. I have a feeling I'll be trying out many different things down there over time. Since no one really owns the lot, they would have to be incredibly wealthy or go heavily into debt to acquire it, it doesn't cost anything except my time to keep redesigning and re-purposing areas of it.

Any other ideas I might be missing? It's not often I stare at such a large space and get stuck not knowing what to do with it first. :)

I always make a small area for babies and toddlers. I put out a few cribs, the mat from the toy store, high chair or two, A few specific toys for toddlers and I love using Sandy from ATS's trike and things in there. A rocker or two for breast feeding moms. My sims make use of it and occasionally I am lucky enough to see a few townie toddlers in the space. I don't usually have it underground though. I usually change up one of the stores that I don't particularly like and put it there. :) They are protected from the elements and I sometimes assign a 'sitter' with that placement desk/floor spot. I forget who made that item.

Sims will pocket any object they can play with after they're done, so if you leave this I expect it to be high maintenance. Be prepared to replace items on a regular basis.

I don't know if you use custom content, if you do you might like Around the Sims 3's Food Carts, or if you want something more elaborate her Food Stalls.

Since I always get inspired when I see what others have done I am just going to link pictures and hope that it helps^^
http://frauengel.blogspot.com/2014/06/a ... ircus.html I tried this out some time ago, it was a lot of fun.

And here are the lots I actually have in my worlds:
I changed the Northerney Festival Lot a bit to include a toddler area:
https://snowshaven.space/the-festival-lot-northerney/

The Aurora Snows Festival Lot I build is more of a traditional Seasons Festival Lot:
https://snowshaven.space/the-festival-lot-aurorasnows/

The Snows Haven Festival Lot has a rollercoaster and a ferris wheel, in winter it also has a market, where a lot of the towns families have their own booth.
The pictures are from the New Years celebration. I have not yet played the other seasons, so I only have crappy build mode pictures:
https://snowshaven.space/the-festival-lot-snowshaven/

Ignore the website it is not ready yet.

Have Arsil's Generic Food Makers been mentioned as an option for food?

How about a secret distillary where Sims produce illegal nectar?

"Honey, our wedding day is approaching. Have we decided to do a backyard wedding party or use the charming Olde Mill inspired wedding chapel that our player placed up on a hill overlooking the city?"

Do we really have to do either one? Let's rent the one in the amusement park gloomy sub-basement under the roller coasters. You know, the place originally zoned for the red light district, with the bowling alleys just above it.

"Uhm, I don't think that's what we were originally...(squints at the other sim), hey! Look, could you just tell me when I mistake you for your twin instead of playing these games?"

(hee hee):P

I like the idea of underground olympic sized swimming pools though. Sims love water and there's never enough of it in Bridgeport. Am too far away from my game to check, but will sprinklers, water slides, and fountains work far underground? Would love to design an underground waterfall, but that may be a bit unrealistic for TS3.

KittyTheSnowCat - Lots of great stuff for inspiration there, thanks. And I had thought of a "secret" nectary but at some point forgot so it's back on the list now. :)
