Inventory cards

Post by Simsapience » June 4th, 2019, 1:35 pm

I just found out about these inventory membership cards and I'm so excited to use them but I have no idea how.

https://aroundthesims3.com/infos/tips_i ... lters.html

I read this post and downloaded all of their inventory card objects and keys and I read their description but I still have a list of questions.

1. How do I go about assigning them to certain groups? Or are they already pre assigned?
2. Can I use them to enable/restrict access to a certain lot? How?
3. Can I make a caste system that only includes people with that certain card? For example, Freshman students caste that include all students with freshman ID cards.

Why I'm asking this is because what I have in mind is a homeworld uni that requires students to have key cards to enter their dorms or certain classrooms. I also want a private gym where everyone needs membership cards. I want big official business buildings that require worker ID cards for entry and to access certain levels of the building (I'll probably put a door infront of the elevator assuming I can assign the keys to the door) also clubrooms within my highschool that only members can enter.

Is all this possible with the following tools I have? I have MC, Gohere, the card objects, careers, sp, basically all nraas and misshissy mods.

They are exactly what the name says: inventory cards. So you manually put them in the inventory of any sim you want assigned to a specific group (like members of the gym).

It's been a while since I experimented with these, but you can use Go Here to make a filter for sims that have this card in their inventory. I used this exactly like you want to, to restrict access to certain Home University buildings to sims with a student card.
However, for me this didn't quite work as intended: every time I started the game the filter had been reset and the card holders no longer had access. But other than that it worked perfectly, both for active and inactive sims. I didn't manage to fix this before my test of the Home University ended, and I've since been focussing on other stuff. So I'm not sure what went wrong there.

But anyway, that's the theory, so yes, with the cards and Go Here you should be able to make this work the way you want.

About question no. 3, I haven't tried this, I'm not sure you can make an automatic caste based on inventory.

Thank you! I'll give it a try and see how things go, I hope the filter sticks so I can use this properly.
